The Brisbane Broncos have rejected reports they are in the race to sign sacked Cronulla star Greg Bird.

"The Broncos have not joined the race to sign Greg Bird whatsoever," Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen told AAP on Friday morning after reports on radio and TV morning shows linking the six-time premiers to the Origin player.

"That's totally incorrect."

Asked if that meant Brisbane were not interested in Bird, Cullen said: "We've got no interest in him at this time".
