Broncos 2020: by the numbers

It is a bit misleading though, because the Storm basically rolled out most of their players to rest their first choice. Penrith had like, 1 or 2 short term injuries the whole year, Melbourne had a few players out for 5-6 weeks and that was it. It's no surprise the best two teams were pretty much unaffected by injuries. Souths used 25 players but they had like 5 or so players out for the season.

I wish the NRL kept a stat like injured weeks per team rather than just "injuries", so if a player is out for 18 weeks, that's 18 for that stat, something like that would be more representative of real impact to clubs.
Only problem is, the algorithm would explode the computer when you started typing Jordan Ka...

It is a field position game and we have the least metres gained and the most metres against.
Forwards were the primary problem. Halves/Hooker didn't help with direction.
Forwards don't move up and hit in defence - we will continue to concede the most metres and points.
Forwards don't catch at the advantage line and get to quick play the balls - we will continue to make the least metres.

We either have dumb, soft or tired players - or a combination of the three.

What stands out to me most looking at these numbers is we have a serious, serious issue with match fitness. This team has a good 40 minutes of energy in it per game total, then they're gassed. It's like they really are on the George Rose diet. That is just nowhere near good enough. I hope Kevvie sees this trend and tells whoever is in charge of our fitness and conditioning to take a walk down to the local Centrelink because Jesus fucking Christ, those back ends of halves are deplorable.

That coupled with a lack of commitment in defence, a young forward pack who clearly bought too much into their own hype, piss poor attack, ONE player who knows how to offload, just above average goal kicking and just flat out bad luck with lack of errors from the opposition and you've sure as hell got the recipe for a wooden spoon season.
The 20-40 and 60- 80 minutes are telling......66 tries conceded and 14 for!!!! Good luck kev

Paix got injured at least once, I think it was after he had his 1 good game, or shortly after that time.
Perese got done for drugs, guess that's a permanent suspension?

Seibold was certainly crap - but he had some serious issues to deal with. It was injuries/suspensions/etc to key players as well.

I'm pretty sure Keenan Palasia missed at least the first half of the season due to an ACL injury he got late in 2019

No surprise how many tries we concede around the time Offa comes on. Useless turd.

Did I read that Addo-Carr is on 300k at the storm? That would be your gap right there from first to last, having 300k players perform like a million bucks, whilst our million buck players play like.....

Which is laughable. He wasn't a depth player at the Tigers, he was already showing huge promise and had dazzled with his speed. Are the Storm cooking the books again?

Why would they ever stop after the piss weak token "punishment" the NRL handed them?

Addo-Carr had only played 3 games when the signing was announced. In fact his debut game was against Melbourne 7 rounds into the competition where he was a late replacement for Nofoaluma. Nofoaluma immediately got his spot back and it took a few games for him to receive his opportunity again.

Addo-Carr was a reasonable prospect coming through the Sharks NYC system but he was a utility back and didn't have anywhere near the rep of players like Alex Johnston and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

300K would have been a massive gamble.

However, that wasn't the deal he was on. He re-signed again just before the finals in 2017 alongside Vunivalu. I don't buy the figure and according to that NRL Richest 100 he's on 480K which sounds about right considering the contract was signed pre-premiership and pre-Origin.
