The Broncos have named four State of Origin representatives for their opening trial of the year to be played in Rockhampton next week.

Coach Anthony Seibold has selected a strong squad to face the Central Capras at Browne Park, including Darius Boyd, Jack Bird, Joe Ofahengaue and Andrew McCullough.

In all, 10 players with NRL experience will take the field.

Bird will be making a return from a knee reconstruction and has been named at fullback, a spot he has done some field training in during the pre-season.

Boyd will slot in the centres, while McCullough and Ofahengaue will start the match in the forwards in the game to be played on Saturday February 15 while a host of other Broncos are engaged in Perth in the NRL Nines tournament.

The local Rockhampton crowd will see plenty of other stars as well, with NRL regulars Tevita Pangai junior, Pat Carrigan, Joe Ofahengaue, Rhys Kennedy and Richie Kennar all suiting up against Central Queensland.

Two players that have also featured in the top grade will control the play in the halves for the Broncos.

Darren Nicholls, who played two NRL matches with the Dragons last year, will begin at five-eighth after signing with affiliate club Souths-Logan Magpies.

Redcliffe half Tyson Gamble, who is in the Broncos’ senior pre-season squad and has previously played for the Wests Tigers, will play in the number seven jersey.

A host of young talent from the Intrust Super Cup has been named on a seven-man bench for the Broncos, including Kobe Hetherington – son of former Queensland Origin hooker Jason Hetherington.

Tickets for the match that will kick off at 7pm are available here.

Was expecting to see Paix in that lineup. Wonder why not?

Jeez that nines side must be pretty good

Reuben is a great signing. Keen to see him get a go.

He hasn't signed with Brisbane. This is the thanks for the off-season team and signing with a feeder club team.

Part of the carrot dangled to sign with feeder clubs is we can get you an off-season and trial with Brisbane.

Jack Martin has moved from Jets to Souths.

Magpies, otherwise you've just pushed a few members over the edge.
