Am I missing something? Can someone explain to me how the dogs are in a position to offer him a big deal?

That's a great question. And if they do have that kind of money why isn't Mbye still with the club?

Another bullshit media story. The Dogs are in no position to be making big signings

Wasn't there also a rumour that he has rejected their offer anyway ...

Probably, because he isn't as stupid as the Bulldogs hoped ... he knows they will be playing him on the wing, given their backrow and the fact that Morris is leaving

Going to play under Dean Pay and the bulldogs would be the quickest way to devalue your future contracts.

$700k for a winger or untested backrower in a club that couldn’t afford a fullback playing the house down for likely similar cash... can imagine they offered 350...

Cows seem far more likely. They’ll have a ton of cash and need a winger while giving pretense of a backrow spot. Mind you cows need a fullback and another prop more. Shocked if they won’t go for TPJ. Imagine having JT2 and TPJ in same side. Get Holmes running off that and don’t need halves as much.

He could earn at least 40% more elsewhere and he would be crazy to knock that back. He would be an astronomical loss but he has to chase the [emoji383] because before he knows it, his career will be over. He may even get a shot in the second row at his new club. There are too many positives for him career wise to ignore and that is why he won't be a Bronco in 2019.

Or he could stay, remain uninjured behind a brilliant forward pack and hopefully win premierships. In the meantime because he’s a funny guy also pick up third party deals.

If he still hasn't decided to stay with us at this point (I know he can't sign), maybe it's time to bite the bullet and just remove the offer. He's only a winger, it's not the end of the world if he goes to try and be a shitty second rower and ruin his career in doing so.

As much as i love the guy playing wing for us, if he continues to push this secondrow fantasy then we should just let him go.

Yep, as much as I love the guy I am pretty over this second row rubbish. He needs to realise that there is a lot more to the backrow then coming in field every so often. No team is going to give him a legitimate run there and this has just turned into nonsense.

Sign the contract or don't Corey, just cut this shit out.

As much as Oates would be a loss (at least in the short term) ... he needs to accept that for the foreseeable future he is a winger (and a bloody good one) or leave.

he is not irreplaceable.

The speculation keeps him in the spotlight and raises his profile. Exactly what he needs if he is to pick up a few more third party deals and stay with us. The more speculation th emerrier I say. In fact, I heard it from my butcher that the warriors are secretly putting together a package deal for him said to be worth $900K.

Not The Mad Butcher by any chance ? ;)

I would like to see the guy stay. It's a bit of a head scratcher that they sign Gillette to a contract but don't have the cash for Oates. At this stage of the career, who is more valuable to the Broncos. I actually have to say Oates. That said, if the dude is dead set on playing in the back row, he will have to go elsewhere.

Who said anything about not having the cash? No-one said that. We aren't paying 700K for a winger and he won't be playing in the forwards here so cash is irrelevant.

Surely Oates would get more money as a top tier winger than a completely untested backrower. Is anyone really going to pay him good 'backrow money' before they even get a chance to see him play backrow?
