Other.

Corey Norman... Nah, Kevvie Walters.

I don't think there's been a better player in Queensland Rugby League history than Wally Lewis. He was the king and his ability to out-gun amazing players like Peter Sterling, Brett Kenny, Steve Mortimer, Terry Lamb, Cliff Lyons etc. helped expand the game to horizons it had never seen before.

However, Kevin Walters proved to be a better five eighth at the Brisbane Broncos. Not only did he manage to play 178 more games than the King, he played a key role in 5 premierships, forming a strong combination with players like Langer, Renouf and Lockyer.

If there was any ever doubt about his ability as a player, he erased it with a remarkable 2000 where he lead the club to their fifth premiership sans club legend Allan Langer.

This should be a tough decision...

Wally was the best 5/8 that happened to play for the Broncos. Kevvie (after Lockyer) played the best at 5/8 for the Broncos. So can my answer be Wally Walters?

If this is tough just wait for the halfback polling :p

Peter Wallace will poll well I imagine *cough*

Walters overthrew Wally as five-eight too, so there's that. Maybe Wally could be in the running for the lock position although Carroll will have that spot. I wouldn't want to run at this forward pack we will have in this team. Ouch.

Actually if I remember all three said it was a mutual agreement Lewis would continue playing lock for the benefit of the side which was the right call given the circumstances still a lot of pressure was on for Bennett and miles to get the sack and Wally back at 5/8th and captain the media and fans were calling for blood.

Yet Wally's relationship with Miles and Bennett took a massive nose dive... I don't believe it was agreed for a second.

Bennett and Miles relationship involving Wally nose dived because Wally got the sack and Miles was appointed which was before Kevin Walters was brought in, Miles were best friends and he thought when news came out that Wally was to be axed as captain that it might help his mate if he accepted the captaincy, Wally took it the other way and Miles has said in hindsight it divided the pair and though they are friends again it will never be the same. Wally was definitely disgusted with the decision to sack him as captain but with regards to Kevin Walters he was willing to play lock because the side was travelling so well with Walters at 5/8th and Lewis has had prior experience at lock, and given the injuries he had that season that saw him in and out of games on a regular basis it was less of an impact at lock then if he was playing 5/8th from a team perspective.

Kevin Walters

Wally Lewis is without at a doubt one of the greatest players to play the game and deserves all the praise he gets but we didn't really achieve much success with him apart from the Panasonic cup of 1989. His relationship with Bennett was a distraction to the team and once he was cut we started to achieve great success and truly establish ourselves as the strongest club in the game.

It's a shame the Broncos or another Brisbane side didn't get to enter the competition in say 1982 when the Steelers and Raiders entered the competition, I think you would have got to see the likes of Lewis, Miles, Scott, Conescu, Dowling at their peak.

Hey bro what I did on nzwarriors.com is i still had a player up for nomination even if he won another position else where. In the event of a double up, a poll will go up for his preferred position and then the next person gets the spot.
