BULLDOGS fans are split - but those left out might only have to wait their turn.

Chief executive Todd Greenburg waved a calming hand last night as fans became angered at what they believe is a discriminatory promotion.

The club will grant free entry to any fan who can produce a New Zealand, Fijian, Tongan or Samoan passport before Saturday night's game against New Zealand.

The passports will need to be shown to attendants at Gate B of ANZ Stadium. Early indications suggest the attendants are in for a torrid time.

Deflecting anger, Greenburg said the promotion was merely the first of many initiatives the club has planned to attract fans. Lebanese fans will also have their day, as will fans with an Australian heritage.

Read this article today about the bulldogs allowing free entry into this rounds clash against the Warriors for people of polynesian descent and the Lebanese community!!

What does everyone think about this??

Is this a smart marketing ploy, or discrimination??

I for one think it shows signso of desperation from the bulldogs to attract fans to supprt their team!!

If you where a bulldogs fan and weren't entitled to free entry would you feel hard done by??

Whats everyone think??

As long as they share it around I don't think it's a problem. Just be interesting how you'd prove it. If I walked up and said "hey bro, I'm from Tonga eh, let me in?" would they buy it? :P

you need to show a passport, thats not the full article!!

I can see that.
So that in a way discriminates Australian born and bred Polynesians who have Australian passports...

Seems a bit dodgy if you ask me! But then again it is the Dogs, they are capable of anything shifty.

I read this on foxsports news (channel 513) last night but I got the impression that it was free for everyone, it didnt specify that it was for polynesians only.

Would be a good idea if it was for everyone though, not many will go to the game!

V. dodgey.

I too agree that we have to do more to get crowds to go to the games, but things should NEVER be split down lines of race. It's just inciting wankers to make a go of something.

It begs the question, why not just make it half-price ticket day? They'd pull in HEAPS of people and everyone would be happy!

when will they have the redneck day where you have to show ya mullet to get in?

They said in the article they'll have Australian day.

We did this last year against New Zealand with their supporters and didn't hear a word about it. Funny how a team like the Bulldogs opens the race card or is it their own fans who are whinging about it more then anyone.

Or is it the fact that League is under pressure so much from other codes that all aspects are under the microscope even more now.

Probably because only twelve people showed up.

Guys, I'm on the bulldogs forum all the time, there was one person complain the rest were just joking yet this shit journo made an article out of it, 95% of them were happy with the initiative they were simply cracking jokes and the media made a big thing out of it.

Saw this on Footy Show last night.

IMO, this is crazy and sets a very bad, if not dangerous trend.

The world is becoming way too PC. I think people are going overboard and it's just a ploy to get people in the gates, why can't people see that. Bulldogs supporters should be happy about it because it will boost their crowd numbers for the weekend. Either way if you are going to the game you would have to pay for a ticket so just pay the money and get over it. Who cares if some people get in for free.

"Free Whitey Day"

All caucasian people get in free. Reckon there will be much backlash? eusa_think

Hold on though not all passport holders from that country are non Caucasian. I mean Sabu could show up and if he showed his passport he would get in. Yet he seems pretty white on the outside.

It seems to be how the media are taking it though and making it a race issue. Where it should be a country issue, and well the Bulldogs management response to the media has inflamed the situation.
