I must say reading that article about the Titans,Knights and Sharks needing a hand up it worries me a bit about the state of the game i grew up in love with. Add to that the disgusting ref decisions this year and i can't help but look to the future and wonder if there will be a game around to support when I'm 30. (5yrs time)

What are your thoughts on the state of the game and its future?

*edit* Can an admin move this please, reading about the titans in a Broncos thread confused me for a bit there haha

The game's only dying in NSW. Too many Sydney clubs. Boot at least 2 of them.

Yeah but while it isn't so much dying in QLD the Titans are struggling financially and the Cowboys on the score board.

The refereeing isn't as bad as people are making out.

Bailouts are nothing new to sport (look at the AFL over the past 10 years).

The Sydney clubs need to be rationalized for the competition to go forward, but look what happened last time they tried to do it.

It's not just NRL clubs, businesses across the board are struggling at the moment, especially those selling luxury items like holidays and entertainment. As soon as people have enough money to go to the footy again, they will.

The Media deal isn't really that far away; we have a great product; we'll be right. It's not all gloom and doom.

I disagree; look at "that other code" so far this year.

They survive with a millions of teams in Victoria; it's about culture. It seems that people would rather watch League from the couch.... again; new media deal.

In fact, look at the top 10 (attendance) they're all within 60 minutes drive of the melbourne CBD except Dockers and Geelong. and most are better than the broncos average attendance.

Yes, fans of Sydney teams are clearly piss week. Again, shows that what's needed is a culture change - not moving teams around or drying them up.

In saying that, if they're dragging the code down because they can't afford to pay players... that's a different story - give them the flick!

Still need to move a few IMO. Melbourne is all AFL it just goes off down there they love it. League is not loved as much in QLD or NSW IMO.

Yep Brisbane would be rooted if they had 9 teams.

Brisbane would be rooted with 3 teams..

What is the population in Sydney?

I think we could do 3 teams in SEQ.

SEQ yes, Brisbane no ;)

Sunshine Coast
Gold Coast
Brisbane

In the future Ippy/Logan

Brisbane could take another team IMO.

Nah I doubt the NRL will ever get the crowds AFL do. No point setting the bar that high. National TV audiences on par with AFL....now that's achievable!

Don't we already get higher national audiences?
