Can we talk about Gillett's trip?

Turning point of the game. We were controlling the Cows in defence, 2 points up with 1 minute to go. Penalty against Gillett for a trip on Thurston.

Fair call? Hard done by? Did JT milk it? CSI that shit because it seemed to be to just be a really dumb penalty to give away in the final minute.

But a bit bullshit that the vast majority of trips throughout the season have been let go, but this one wasn't.

JT sticks the leg out all the time. Doesn't get pinged for it.

Whatever it was, it was the stupidest thing he has done all year and showed that a lack of composure isn't limited to our halves only...

Don't think it was a penalty, but it's JT, so it's touch and go that you'll get penalised if you even think about making tough contact with him. I also loved how he was standing over the ruck and shouting at the ref to give them a penalty, and guess what happened... I loathe the sharks, but I'll be going into that game as a full fledged supporter hoping some grub puts a massive shot on him or Morgan.

EDIT: If that happens in any other game of the year to any other player it is news for at least a week. We won't hear a word about it being a contentious call.

I think it was a BS penalty.

Worse 'trips' have happened during the season & nothing happened.

But because of the uproar about Roberts, the ref had to do something.

And yes I think JT milked it.

Milford and Hunt trying to offload the ball when they made breaks and giving it back to the opposition helped us lose the game...

We still had tackles up our sleeves.

I do, it was the last tackle with 1 minute on the clock... Cows were going no where, our slide defence had pushed them to the touch line... I was fucking cheering!!! Full brain explosion!!! We never should of let them into the game and just beat ourselves in that respect but that instant of stupidity from Gillett cost us the game

Fair enough penalty I think. Even though it was his arse that knocked over JT. It looked awkward and can't blame the refs for penalizing.

I must say, GIllett screwed up by lifting his leg in slow motion. If he leaves he's feet planted, JT runs into him and falls over anyway. The little lift of the leg, gave it away, and made it look like a trip more than it probably was. He doesn't do that, and our scrambling defence shuts them down, and we potentially win.

It's 100% a penalty. Gillett couldn't have forced the refs hand anymore than he did with the stupid lifting action. He didn't even need to do it, Hunt had Thurston covered IMO.
