Cleary to coach Panthers

Not that interesting. Gould pretty much groomed Cleary into coaching at the Roosters, so it's no surprise the pair reunite now.

Disappointing for the Warriors though.

Mixed reaction from over here. In typical NZ fashion, Cleary has had gotten hsi fair share of hardknocks from so called "experts" over the years, chopping down the tall poppy in a country obssessed with All Blacks-like success.

In saying that, I think he'll be a puppet at Penrith and as said above is the perfect puppet for Gus, given their hsitory together.

Really thought Gould would keep Georgealis (sp?) so he could groom someone else

I get the feeling Penrith haven't given Gould the luxury of having a 5 year plan for success. I think he's expected to deliver results fairly quickly, so spending time grooming a rookie coach isn't seen as an option.

I rate Cleary. I think he's been held back by the Warriors tradition of filling the team with useless nuffies.

Plus the difficulties in enticing quality Australian talent to go to Auckland and stay there. He should have more luck enticing them to Penrith.

Unsure whether he's the right fit or not.

Cleary is all about no-thrills complete your sets and get to your kick coach in a similar vein to Elliott. In fact, his success at the Warriors basically emulates Elliott's success at Canberra. Maybe he might have better luck at home with a leader like Gould overseeing everything but I have my doubts.

Warriors will be better off without him as long as they bring in the right guy.

They won't.

Mail is it's Bluey McClennan. As long as they're prepared to drop some games in the hopes Bluey's "reggae" footy style pays off, then more power to them.

McClennan's a good coach, but I think he's a short term option. He will either bring success immediately or he'll flunk. He won't build a long term platform. It's not his style.

Vatuvei keeps getting hampered by injury. If he could play 24 games he'd be top try scorer.

To be totally honest, I think Cleary is the most over rated coach in the game. (Watch him in a comp at Penrith now... [icon_lol1. )

Since Cleary came on board, the Warriors have been all but.

There's something really missing at the Warriors. Never seen any real long term improvements since he's been there. Even player development has been pretty average if you ask me. Someone like Vatuvai should be the best winger in the comp by now, and while he has improved over the years, he's still over-all not that good of a player.

They don't have great players on the sidelines helping coach their team like the Aussie teams do. They have to do the best they can, while living in a shithole called Auckland.

The worst thing the Warriors did was get rid of Anderson/Andersen however he spelt it.

What?

Anderson was a c**t who forced all their glory players out.

He was a good coach, who took them to a bloody grand final.

Then ruined it by making them wooden spoon contenders again.

Always had issues with the players and his time at Parra proved no different.
