STAR Blues fullback Jarryd Hayne's preparations for State of Origin III are in a spin with revelations he has fallen out with Parramatta club coach Daniel Anderson.

The relationship between Anderson and Hayne is at breaking point, with Hayne's agent Wayne Beavis on Sunday night calling for an urgent meeting to thrash out their differences.

Hayne was singled out for criticism in the wake of the Eels' 10-6 loss against the Broncos at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday.

He was so upset he stormed out of the ground, boycotting a compulsory team function with fans at the Leagues Club.

Parramatta directors have summonsed Anderson to appear before the board on Tuesday to explain the team's poor form and the falling-out with Hayne.

After the match, Anderson told the press conference: "I think our fullback is learning. He wasn't good tonight in my opinion.

"Not many people will say it, but he was off his game." Obviously disappointed he had been singled out for criticism, Hayne told reporters: "We're just not jelling at the moment. It's the coach's job ... it's for him to bring us together and to work that out."

Beavis phoned Eels chief executive Paul Osborne on Sunday.

"I would have thought if the coach had a problem with him, he would have had a meeting to sort it out," Beavis said.

Parramatta insiders said Anderson's press conference revelations on Saturday night regarding his unhappiness with his $500,000-a-season fullback had been common knowledge around the club for weeks.

Beavis denies it, but there are some in the Eels camp who have been concerned for two months that Hayne's ego is getting out of control now that he is by far the highest-paid player at the club and one of the most high-profile players in the game.

"Jarryd has changed a lot since last year," one insider said. "There is a genuine concern that all the publicity has got to him."

It is understood Anderson has spoken to Hayne regularly about his form in recent weeks.

maybe i should have just title this thread Jarryd Hayne is a CRY-BABY [icon_lol1.

The coach said he was shit, guess what he was absolute shit, the coach was going easy if anything yet he's angry that the coach told the truth LOL. For a 500k player he is very average.

Yes he was shit, but I don't think a coach should be telling the media that in a press conference. We have seen with Peter Wallace and NSW that it does them no good at all in terms of confidence. It's fine having a word to him at training or whatever, but not to declare it to the world, even though that is what WE want to hear.

Look tbh when I first read it yesterday I thought WTF, why would a coach say that about his star player, usually it's the standard "we played poor as a team". Singling him out is very poor from Anderson but it's Hayne so I struggle to feel sorry for him [icon_evillaugh

I would generally agree, but I do think Hayne's ego needs to be taken down a peg or two. I'm not sure whether this was the right way to go about it but I'd say that was Anderson's aim.

Yeh fair enough. I would hope that Anderson has tried other methods before this one though.

However don't think for a second that I feel sorry for Hayne!!!

HAYNE IS A WANKER

I don't have problem with a coach being constructively critical of specific players in public. In this case, Anderson was basically saying he's not playing well because he's trying too hard and needs to work out a balance with his halves. That's true.

Hayne's petulant "that's the coach's job to sort out" is typical of the arrogant shithead that he is.

IMO: Hayne wouldn't take criticism very well.

He would believe the hype that he is the 'best' in the world.

Yeah I don't really have a problem with what Anderson said. He did also point out that the halves were also young and had some learning to do. Difference between them though of course is that Hayne is being paid a fortune and is supposedly such a superstar that you have a right to expect a little more from him as a coach than you do of Daniel Mortimer and whoever the other bloke was in the halves (it's Parra, I don't really care who it is!!).

To everyone saying the coach shouldnt be bagging out a player, what about hayne?! He said that the team wasnt gelling, and thats the coaches fault.

I'm pretty sure everyone hates Hayne already, so comments like that go without saying.

Who cares? Parramatta can die a long painful death AFAIC.

LOL at Hayne saying it's the coaches job to sort it out - the coach is not the one on the field playing like shit. Hayne probably isn't playing to the game plan Anderson is setting in order to sort out the problems with the team's performance. And I daresay Anderson tried many other means to get Hayne to realise he is not playing well and it has fallen on deaf ears so he thought he'd try calling him out publicly.

But unfortunately I see this being "resolved" by the coach getting sacked and the "star player" not being held accountable and asked to justify his salary; and his ego will continue to grow out of control un-checked.

Peter Sterling: Eels Need To Change Their Halves

After reading a newspaper on Sunday morning I assumed that at the post-match press conference following the Parramatta-Brisbane clash the night before Eels coach Daniel Anderson must have blamed star fullback Jarryd Hayne for the defeat.

The paper’s headline screamed “Hayne blamed for a club in crisis” and went on to describe the “extraordinary step of singling out his superstar for all the wrong reasons”.

I was taken aback and couldn’t wait to see the interview as I found it hard to believe that any coach would ever publically say that one of his players was responsible for any defeat.

Lo and behold... he didn’t.

The post-match conference went for seven minutes, of which 39 seconds were devoted to the Parramatta full-back.

The first 15 seconds was Daniel pointing out that his halves and indeed his fullback were “all learning” and he finished by saying that Jarryd “wasn’t good tonight” and “was off his game.”

The last 24 seconds was in response to a journalist’s question as to what he would he say to Hayne on the back of his performance. Anderson said it would be about playing the percentages and working hard for his teammates.

Fortunately since then a supposed crisis meeting between coach, player manager and CEO has been averted after being deemed unnecessary.

SUPERSTAR Jarryd Hayne's relationship with Daniel Anderson is in tatters after the fullback was left "embarrassed" and "humiliated" by the Parramatta coach last weekend.

The extent of Hayne's disenchantment at Parramatta was revealed yesterday by his mentor, former Australian centre Terry Hill, who warned that the reigning Dally M Medallist could even walk out of the club if the rift isn't healed.

"I'll go as far as to say that if Anderson keeps carrying on like this, Jarryd could easily walk out on Parramatta," Hill said.

Hayne was so upset at being singled out for criticism by Anderson after Saturday night's demoralising loss to Brisbane he fled Sydney on Monday to meet at the home of Hill, his second cousin, on the Central Coast.

The pair had lunch and spoke about the moment that could derail Parramatta's season.

Although Hayne signed a four-year, $2 million deal last year, Hill said Parramatta's culture must change - or risk losing Hayne.

"Jarryd is very embarrassed by what was said. He came and saw me on Monday and we spent the day together," Hill said. "He was genuinely shattered. I have helped raise this kid so I know him better than most. We are family but this has really knocked him around.

"For a first-grade coach to blame one player for a loss is absolutely ludicrous.

"Anderson needs to change his approach. There are obviously issues at Parramatta."

you can't criticize the "most influential player of the last decade" even when he is playing poorly  I don't know how the papers came up with that line considering he has only played half a season of good footy in the last 3 years.

I saw the post match interview with Anderson, he spoke about Hayne for less than 30 seconds and what he said wasn't even that bad. Hayne is just a cry-baby  he should listen to what Anderson is saying rather than cry and work on his game rather than decide the coach is wrong
