Do you think Rugby league could do a better job pushing club memberships??

In the AFL Collingwood have like 70,000 members, which NRL club gets close to that? :confused:

Yeah. Broncos for example don't have non ticketed memberships. We have 15000 ticketed members though (I think, may even be more)

Well we could surely push the Memberships harder IMO. The AFL make a big deal of it and I think the NRL clubs should as well. Would be great for all clubs to have a heap of Members. Would certainly help the game IMO.

Clubs have been pushing it hard for the last few years. There was a membership challenge this year or last year I think. Team with the most memberships get to suck David Gallops cockatoo or something. Seriously though, it will get bigger. Need to be creative with the memberships though, needs to be a few good incentives that comes with it.

Pfffffft, why would that make everyone one rush and sign membership??

I think the AFL model is fairly good, the difference is the clubs actually wants the fans/members to be involved where as I don't think League is like that at all.

Broncos could learn a lot from the Reds. Some of the best marketing from a sporting team I've seen. They're on the prowl for 30,000 members this year.

Haven't the broncos got about 50000 members, not season ticket holders but club members?

May bad, closeish though :)

Broncos Leagues Club surpassed 44,000 members for the first time in the Club's history today.
This record is a fantastic result for Broncos Leagues Club and its members.
With membership available for just $11 or $7.15 there really has never been a better time to join Broncos Leagues Club.
New members receive a range of benefits including:
Free membership to Player Rewards;
$5 off every buffet purchased in The Buffet;
10% off their beverage purchases;
Entry into exclusive 'member' only promotions including our major promotions and weekly membershiop draws;
5% off Brisbane Broncos merchandise at the merchandise store; and
10% off function room hire.
These are just some of the great benefits new members receive, and it's easy to see that it takes little or no time to receive the full dollar value of membership back. In fact most members receive the full dollar value of membership back on their first visit.

Leagues club is completely separate from the football club. The members don't count

If it did, the Cowboys would be one of the best supported clubs around.

It would help me. The biggest thing you get in a membership is the game day tickets, which are useless to me living in Adelaide

I pay for Foxtel + sports pack as this is the only way I can see the Broncos

If i could give some money to the club via membership which resulted in a discount off my fox subscription, that would be tempting

As a non ticketed member.. I'm pretty sure they exist.
Looking through this years membership page there is now 4 different non ticketed options. A $70 one, a $33 one, a kids and one for.. Babies.

It's something I've noticed our club pushing more and more in recent years, especially non-ticketed memberships. We have a huge following Australia wide and interstate memberships are a potentially huge source of revenue that our club could tap into.

There's a real team membership culture in the AFL that's not yet taken off in rugby league, although with the right messaging and marketing there's no reason rugby league couldn't make significant gains. I'm a proud member of both the Broncos and the Essendon football club (Interstate member). It feels good to know I'm contributing financially (not that the Broncos need it) to my clubs.

A good membership base is so important for clubs that are struggling financially. I'd be interested to know the figures for Sydney clubs that don't draw big crowds (Manly, Easts, Cronulla to name a few).

Yes, that's correct. Official NRL numbers (State of the Game 2011):

Broncos Memberships: 14,929 of which 13,167 are ticketed. (This doesn't include the farewell Locky memberships)

We are second in the NRL for ticketed memberships after the Dragons (15,039) and 4th in overal memberships after 50uff$ (20,633), Dragons (20,313) and Knights (15,188).

Pretty disappointing if you ask me for such a well supported club... Although last year's tenure under Henjak didn't help.

I just noticed the $33 Captains membership - that's new for 2012 I think

A better option for us interstaters

And we still get way bigger crowds even though our membership numbers are less.

What they should do is introduce a $50 membership with some benefits - non ticketed. That would entice many people to buy so they can be a member of the club and perhaps a $100 membership which would include all the standard benefits minus the tickets obviously.
