Went along to the finals today. St Brendans winning the big one against Ignatius Park 28-24.

Some quality kids on show, no doubt all the good ones well and truly snapped up.

Spewing I couldn't get out there this year.

They did say St Brendons would find it a bit tougher this year. Looks like they were right. I've never seen them win a final with the scores that close.

Coxy I asked Wayne a few years ago if any scouts get sent out and he said by the time the Confro is on the good ones are already snapped up by clubs around Australia.

..wow. It's been 7 years since I competed. fark.

Yeah but there were a few around apparently. More than likely to see how their recruits performed I guess.

Brendans led 28-12 early in the second half but Iggy Park fought back and had their chances to win it at the death but couldn't manage it.

Fullback for Brendans is a gun.

Was that Kurt Mann Coxy? I think he has played a game or 2 for the Comets in Q-Cup this year??? I wonder if he has a contract with any of the NRL clubs?

**** St. Brendans, can't fucking stand them.

Park were massive favourites to win but choked again.

Kurt Mann hasn't played QCup, maybe Mal Meninga cup?

Meanwhile I don't think Cyril Connell missed a single Confro. Yeah most are on scholarship already - but every club has a scout there either to see how their new recruits are going or to just make sure they haven't missed a late(ish) bloomer.

Oh no doubt. There would be scouts there for sure but point I was making is that the really good players, most of them are locked in before the tournament starts.

Cyril Connell always said Confro was his favourite week of the footballing year.

Used to always be my fave week of footy as well. Was massive for my school back in my day (and even before I started high school I'd always go) - we'd have a least 2 bus loads of suppoters travel to watch it wherever it was.

What school was that?

My school usually has a lot of supporters, parents etc. if it's in the CQ region bulk alumni would turn out to watch them play.
