Corey Oates Injury

I think we're setting a very dangerous precedent letting all these guys come back several weeks ahead of when they should be. You could tell by last night that Reed & Kahu weren't even close to 100%, Reed was terrified to hit anything with that shoulder and Kahu was clearly still hampered by his quad, didn't attack any high balls last night, which is his speciality.

The reason they're rushing back is because A) they love the Broncos and B) they're scared to lose their spot in the team.. Copley & Gavet got injured last season and were never seen again at the club, I don't blame them for being worried about losing their place in the pecking order, but you've gotta recover 100% before you come back, I really wish Wayne didn't let those 2 play last night, one of these days it's going to come back and bite us and someone is going to re-injure themselves much worse than they originally did.

They passed every test and were at 100% to go. Staff passed them because they could do everything they were supposed to this week to prove they could play. Did the Broncos' staff ever say how long it would be or just media outlets?

The biggest test last night was from Andrew Symonds and his huge hug of Oates- he passed that in the sheds.

That's all fine and good, but they weren't even close to game ready, you can pass every test at training and not be ready to play at 100% in an NRL game, if you watched the game you don't need to be a doctor to see that neither of them were 100% prepared for that game, whether it be physically, mentally or both.

Kahu's problems seemed to be more related to cramps that his quad imo. I didn't really notice him having any movement problem prior to that.

It's normal for a player to be a bit more hesitant when returning from an injury, that would always happen, regardless of timing.

It didn't help that Kahu got hit high on more than two occasions. I think 3.

This system is useless. How the hell does this suspension benefit Oates or the Broncos? It only benefits the next teams that the Warriors face. Its a fucking farce.

Yep. It was pretty obvious to anyone watching that Oates' runs were hurting the Warriors and they resorted to foul play.

How's this for a crackpot idea - any weeks that an opponent gets suspended, you get to "bank" for yourself to use against one of your own player's suspensions? Eg, Matulino gets 4 weeks, we get to use those 4 weeks to our advantage to bail out Roberts and still have 3 in the bank for later in the year. It'll never work, but think of the punches that can be landed on JReynoldses or BScotts faces and no one misses games!

How about if they're suspended for at least one match then it has to be served against the team they offended against if they're playing again that year?

There needs to be some sort of immediate penalty that has enough weight to benefit the team incurring the foul play. A send off seems excessive, but it's the only thing I can think of.

For that to happen the refs need to be competent. The fucking bunker showed it in 4 angles in slow motion, if that wasn't enough evidence then there will never be enough.

Send him off, but allow a replacement from the bench.

Make him stand there blindfolded while our biggest bloke gets to lay a shoulder charge on him.

Haha. I'd love to see that. This is what should actually happen at the judiciary. Forget giving them weeks for an offense.

Wouldn't work. Matulino would get to spend a cushy few months in a Brisbane hospital instead of some frozen south island sheep shed, while Moose or Blair miss the rest of the season on a GBH charge.
