The Broncos have secured the services of the organising halfback they targeted after the signing of Junior Kangaroo Brodie Croft on a three-year deal. Croft was released by the Melbourne Storm today and will join the Broncos until the end of the 2022 NRL season. Croft, who played alongside Broncos David Fifita and Thomas Flegler with the Australian Junior Kangaroos team just last month, has also played for the Queensland under-18s and under-20s teams on his progression through the grades.

What an honour! So proud to have my family there too 💚💛

He will also bring strong recent NRL experience to the Broncos. The 22-year-old has played 39 NRL games for the Storm, including the 2018 NRL Grand Final and as starting halfback in 18 wins from 22 matches in 2019. Broncos’ head coach Anthony Seibold said it was a wonderful acquisition for the club.

“We are bringing Brodie home to Queensland and giving him the opportunity to represent our club and the club he grew up supporting,” said Broncos’ head coach Anthony Seibold. “Brodie has performed at an elite level throughout the various stages of his development and even as recent as last month represented the Junior Kangaroos under-23s team. “I believe Brodie is ready to step up as a leader and key position player at the Broncos after learning his craft in Melbourne. He experienced a Grand Final in 2018 and is at an age where he is ready to lead a team around the park. “Brodie gives us depth in the halfback position and he, Anthony Milford and Tom Dearden are players we believe can have a strong influence in what we do in season 2020 and beyond.”

Broncos CEO Paul White said Croft’s signing gave the squad depth in a key area.

“Brodie comes from a good system and has played a few seasons of NRL football and that is important for our club,” said White. “We have been very clear that we were looking to go to market to strengthen our spine and the signing of Brodie ticks that box. “He also shows leadership potential, having been vice captain of the Australian Under 23s last month, and is a fine young man off the field. “Brodie wants to be a Bronco and is a proud Queenslander - and we are really happy to be able to be bring him home.”

Reminder: Tom Dearden 3 wins from 4 starts (not including the 6 minutes against the Titans before he got injured and the attack fell to shit thereafter.)

That's a nice little stat I'm betting the Croft skeptics didn't know about

Are you saying if we have a Croft & Dearden halves pairing we'll have an 80% win rate? 👀

Hopefully Croft takes his game to another level now. I'm loving the fact that he grew up supporting the Broncs!

Playing behind our pack, he really has the world at his feet. It all comes down to his own ability and desire.
