Dallas Johnson set to join Catalans

Thurston and Cronk for the halves i think is the best combination that we could possibly have, but the sentimentalist in me wants to see Lockyer have a grand send off, captaining Queensland to 5 straight origin series wins with a white-wash.

Yeah, I picked Cronk at halfback just to stir the Thurston apologists ;-)

Should Lockyer retire IMO it should be 6. Thurston 7. Cronk

I have nothing against Prince (although he can be a whinging turd sometimes) but Cronk deserves a shot at it.

100% agree with Harrison to lock as well. As for the utility, Harrison is an 80 minute player, so put another backrower on the bench who can cover lock and if there is an injury in the backline just shift Harrison into the centers and reshuffle.

Agree with both you and AP, if Lockyer does stand down (and I think he probably should, speaking as a Broncos fan who wants to get the most out of him for the next 2 years) then 6. Thurston 7. Cronk would be the best scenario for Queensland.

Let Thurston be the dominant go to man he is best at, and let Cronk and Smith organise the team and work in with Billy.

Slater
Boyd
Inglis
Hodges
Folau
Thurston
Cronk
Hannant
Smith (C)
Civoniceva
Thaiday
Myles
Luck

Interchange
Taylor
Costigan
Shillington
Harrison (he is the best Origin style utility we have in that he is a forward who can dabble in the halves and hooker if required)

I like that team... although where is pricey?!!! he hasnt retired afaik

Hmmm, squeeze him in for Hannant who drops to the bench and Costigan or Shilington misses out.

Price is long in the tooth. Either he or Civo have to drop out IMO.

i dont think we can afford for either of them to drop out though, to be honest.

look how bad we played without price this year for starters. Price and Civo just have an uncanny ability to make at least 10m with every carry of the ball, be it on the 1st minute or the 79th minute of the game.

Absolutely. I'm just concerned with the number and severity of injuries Price had this year. Petero had his toe problem which was a long term injury, but it was a bit of a freak injury.

Pricey's seemed a bit more due to aging and the toll of NRL level footy on his body. I worry that he's not going to be good for more than game 1.

I hope Luck gets a look in, he seems like the type of player who would put in 110% and play his heart out - though Ash has earnt his spot, Luck should get a chance

Stagg FTW.

It's a shame. Johnson has long been one of my favourite players. He's not naturally talented; but through sheer hard work and a desire to outdo himself he punches far above his weight.

Yep I am a huge fan of Luck, I think he would bring more to the table than Stagg does.

Yep, I like Luck as a player. Always has been one of my favourite league players, not including Broncos.

My pack would be:
8.Price
9.Smith
10.Civo
11.Thaiday
12.Harrison
13.Stagg

14.Cronk
15.Hannant
16.Myles
17.Scott

I hate the idea of having a halfback/five eighth on the bench. The positions they can play apart from their preferred position is generally limited and if you did bring them on to play in the halves it just disrupts the chemistry of the team.

Who knows, Johnson might play for the POMS in 3 years time under the residency rule :P
How weird would that be lol.

They'll probably need him after all the broken bodies he'll be leaving behind in the ESL.

He's already played for Australia, surely that makes him exempt for any other country?
