This thread might be unnecessary and I apologise if people see it that way.

But before i let all the doom and gloom set in, and accept the fact our seasons done, I want to point out how amazing Darbs form and effort was this year. I was pretty cold on him before he returned to us but he has turned into one of my all time favourite Broncos. Obviously they are very different players but his composure, effort, and decision making tonight when everyone else was struggling under pressure was Lockyer-esque. I would proudly accept him as captain next year.

I just wanted to comment something positive on a bit of a heartbreaking night.

good call

CBF trawling for the last (if?) Boyd thread but he doesn't deserve what he'll probably be in for over the next, um off -season I guess

hard not to fault some players and just unthinkable decisions, but you cant fault a 110% player like boyd with the rarest of mistakes

legend

would still PM

Agreed, he tried his guts out tonight. He'll be the captain for sure next year, you'd think.

Absolute champion player.

He's been our best this year. A huge part of our attack, works like a dog and leads by example. He'll make a great captain.

Has been outstanding this season. Doesn't deserve tonight's bs.

I haven't seen a player lead by example and be so calm under pressure like Boyd has been since Locky. And that ncludes the test match and origin this year. I think he will be a great captain.

Rugby league can be a cruel game at times. It's devastating that after he's effort all year, but in this game in particular, he was the one to drop the kickoff this time around. Very much like Hunt in 2015.

I was pleasantly surprised last year, and blown away this year. Easily our player of the year. The best choice for captain by far.

Without Boyd we wouldn't have made the 8 this year. He was the only one who played well all year, not just in spurts.

I thought he was our best all year! Ive always rated darbs! Im glad he is chosen as captain for 2017. Maybe he might be a better leader and motivate the guys more than parker did (not saying corey was a bad captain)

I think that's the best I've ever seen him play. It was an unbelievable performance.

Whilst all of his team-mates were out on their feet, he kept coming back for more.

The best thing for me isn't even his footy, it's the way he's turned his life around from his dark days.

I truly he hope he is our captain next season, because I can't think of anyone who deserves it more.

Maybe with his performance last night other players will see what the benefits are of working very hard on their fitness in the offseason. Doesn't he and McCullough hold the beep test record?

My one criticism would be we when glares at the ref for 5 seconds and then plays the ball. Haven't seen the ref decide to give a penalty yet from him doing that.

I didn't want to make the comparison, but he was truly Lockyer like. His vision and game smarts are far above anyone else in the team. Even his short kicking game goes alright

Phenomenal player.

I don't know. He's a good player but I'm not sure i see him as the face of the club.

That being said, no one else really stands out at the moment.
