Oh boy what have the Broncos done!
I have a feeling he would have stayed for a reasonable offer -- not the ridiculous money Souths paid -- if they gave him a starting spot.Foordy said:^^^ i don't think the Brisbane management show Taylor the Door, they just weren't prepared at the time to match the Souths massive offer

Good luck to him, though!
That's a fair call, but the guy was 20 years old. He already showed what he could do in attack, scoring and setting up tries. Needs to improve in defense as a forward but then forwards take time to develop. My point still stands: who else has Taylor's size and ability at 21?Caniffe said:You don't sign someone on the chance they may come good. ddd said:The fact is guys, you can't have a guy on the books chewing up heaps of the salary cap who takes 20 weeks to get into form. I know that he is a young prop and they take a while, but consideration needs to be had to the fact he came back from the off season 20kgs overweight - which is a heap, as he has shown, its taken him 20 weeks to get into form. Obviously the boy needed someone to look after, take him under their wing (seemed as though Bennett wasn't prepared to and Ivan had his own problems) - perhaps Gordie will have the time and ability to get Taylor into form.
I'm not denying his form at the moment - he is unbelievable at the moment, but it will be interesting to see how he starts off next year - and I suppose we can let Souths do the hard work and hope he comes back in a few years time, if he actually develops, as he and his gf both have family in Bris
He wasn't working hard enough, but you've got to take his age into consideration. How many great props are going around at 19-21? They take time to develop and it's no surprise the best ones are in their late 20's-early 30's. No way should Brisbane have paid anywhere near Souths' offer because it was ridiculous, but I think playing him more as Henjak has done the past few weeks is what he wanted more than the money. The Rock said:Nah, Broncos made the right call on this one.
Taylor was in shit form, was lazy at training, always rocking up over-weight, has had more bad games than good games in the games he had played....Souths offered him 300k and it was an offer he couldn't resist. There's really nothing we can do about it. Even if we offered him 200k (which would be ridiculous) I doubt he would have stayed.
whoever is responsible for letting dave taylor leave the club should be fired immediately. while he didn't show this form at the start of the year, he simply wasn't given a chance to show what he's got (this year and in years past), thus became disillusioned with the broncos lack of interest in him.
it's an absolute disgrace and there's no way this guy should be in another jumper to brisbane.

i don't care what people say, this guy has been mismanaged from coaching staff to management. i know there could have been issues behind the scenes (laziness?), but anyone with two eyes could see from day 1 this guy was going to be awesome. i cannot believe he's leaving. gordon tallis and the rest of souths would be rubbing their hands together. no way he should be playing for anyone but the broncos. it's the biggest blunder since petro, and potentionally bigger.
