Did B Smith not want Mason? or was it the powers that be?

I mean surely from B Smith's point of view - he would have been able to come up with a way to use Mason? or did he just want the dosh from the cap?

Yeah, I am pretty sure Smith likes to clean out all the dead wood whenever he starts at a new club. When he was at the Knights, they released a heap of players and everyone was having a whinge, then they started winning a fair bit.

Just part of his coaching nature I guess.
