following on from the favourite non-premiership season thread, what is you favourite premiership season.

for me i find it had to split 1992 and 2006. 1992 because it was our first premiership and 2006 because we were supposedly no hope to take down the Storm and we managed to. i also still love the comeback we made against the Bulldogs in the GF qualifier.

I haven't seen any premiership seasons other than 2006, so I gotta say 2006. Plus, I watched the GF in Sydney and it was simply amazing.

2006 for me.

I didn't start really getting into rugby league until 1998 (when I was eight!), and that's when I began supporting the Broncos, but I can hardly remember anything from that season other than cheering on the team in the grand final.

In 2000 I went to my first Broncos game, got my first Broncos jersey, but once, I think I was too young to fully appreciate winning a premiership.

2006 on the other hand, I remember well. There are just so many reasons why it was awesome. Webcke's last game, the fact that we were massive underdogs going into the GF, the win over the Bulldogs to get there, smashing the Knights, etc. It was also the first grand final I went to, and I really had to take a leak in that second half, but I held on throughout and boy was it worth it! I'll never forget when Lockyer potted that field goal, I was still worried the Storm would come back, but deep down I knew we had it. Such a sweet, sweet victory. The fact we beat those whinging, cheating, dirty buggers made it even better.

2000, we were just so dominate that year and we had so many class players, was awesome to watch.

2006 was awesome to experience...but in rewatching I realised it was a fairly lackluster season for the most part.

The finals I remember most are 2000 and 2006. 2000 was good for how insanely dominant we were, but 2006 was the most satisfying. After years of the post origin slump and being written off as chokers, something clicked and we put our foot to the floor. Some of the demolition jobs we put on other teams in the lead up to the finals and the GF were insane. Then the icing on the cake was the dogs game... that second half was perfect league from Brisbane, and probably the best I've ever seen Lockyer play.

2006 because it was just pure awesome, we came from nowhere to deliver a fairytale premiership to Webcke.

Showing my age, but 1993. The Broncos and Canberra teams that year were simply divine to watch. The comp was top notch and the top 5 was separated by 2 points - but the Broncos ended up 5th. IIRC could've won the minor premiership if they'd won their last game (maybe 2nd). That's how close it was.

After finishing 5th everyone wrote us off. EVERYONE.

Flogged Manly.
Flogged Canberra.
Came from behind to beat Canterbury.
Never in doubt against St George.

Just awesome.

1998.

it proved that the Broncos were the outright best team by a country mile, after all the Super League/ARL stuff in which the ARL/Sydney/all of NSW proclaimed that Newcastle were the real premiers and were the better team.

it was also probably the most dominant and best performing season youll ever see from a team. plus that team was just incredible from 1 to 17.

2000 for me.

For mine it was the most dominant of all of our Premierships. We won the Minor Premiership by the length of the straight, and made an awesome comeback in week 1 of the Finals against Cronulla. The next two wins over Parramatta in the Prelim, and the Roosters in the GF, were far from the most dominant displays seen by a Broncos side, but they just oozed class IMO.

Closely followed by 2006.

(Although I guess Saints were favs in 1992 too)

I wasn't a betting man back in 1992, but surely we would've started favourites on that day? Looking back on the season in review, a St George victory in that GF would've been an upset wouldn't it???

If by favourites, you mean favoured to lose, then maybe.

How were St George going to be favourites against a team that won the minor premiership, by only losing 4 games all season, and then didn't lose a finals match, compared to the saints losing their first finals match, and then unconvincingly winning their next 2?

2006 is so the more sweeter now given the events of this year.

2006 was awesome. We put a bunch of dominant displays in at the end of the season and in the semis and then to beat melbourne??? I love it icon_thumbs_u
Agree with AP about 1998. Everyone knocked us for winning what they called an inferior comp in 97 only for us to come out and smoke the ARL alligned teams _woohoo_

Mine too..

2006.
The calls Lockyer was past it.
The calls WB was past it (so much so that the board were making moves to get rid of him - then roostergate).
The slump. The Broncos were gone.
That game against the Storm, where we still lost but showed grit. Turning point. Moving Hodgo to fullback & Berro to hooker.
Defeating Joey's (*cough* "best player ever lockyer isn't even fit to lick his boots" *cough*) knights 50something to 6.
Down 20-6 at half time in the prelim against the Bulldogs.
Lockyer's display & triumph.
Smashing the smug storm. Berro defending and shutting down Inglis every time he had the ball. Ryan Hoffman cries.

Ah...it was a good wonderful season, and at the time I didn't think it was as good as 1992, but like a few people have pointed out...with time and subsequent events it has grown in stature.

What an epic season.

When Willie Carne crossed for that try to wrap up the 93 GF was the last time I ever bawled my eyes. That was so awesome.

However 2006 wins. What a great season. I love all the premiership years tho. 2011 will be good ;)

I cant claim to have experienced any premierships since I only got into league in 2008. I am patiently waiting for the day...

Agreed with all that. The 98 side was as good a footy team as I've seen
