The National Rugby League has today outlined Salary Cap breaches against the Wests Tigers, the Gold Coast Titans, the St George Illawarra Dragons, the Parramatta Eels and the Canberra Raiders following the completion of all audits into the 2010 season.

The largest breach notice is in relation to the Wests Tigers, who claimed a ‘long serving player allowance’ contrary to advice from the Salary Cap audit team.

Club Fine
Wests Tigers $187,140
Gold Coast Titans $76,380
Parramatta Eels $44,988
Canberra Raiders $31,657 [icon_evillaugh
St George Illawarra Dragons $15,694

The Titans have also been breached a further $2,500 for failing to properly register a Toyota Cup player.

So were Melbourne actually over or was last season just a punishment for the previous few?

thats a pretty big amount from wests. that should be at least some sort of points docking. that money is good enough for a solid first grader.

Aren't they fine amounts rather than breach amounts? Or are fines equivalent to the size of the breach?

It says Wests tried to claim an allowance they weren't entitled to. Looks more like a misunderstanding than a deliberate rort.

Wait dont answer that. Just found out they were $1.039m over.

And AP reckon they were harshly done by.....

i dunno, it sounds like it was deliberate - "who claimed a ‘long serving player allowance’ contrary to advice from the Salary Cap audit team"

if the salary cap audit team says 'do not claim that as a long serving player allowance' and you do it anyway, thats deliberate.

st george over.....of course, all wayne bennett teams seem to breach the salary cap at least every second year lol.

Well considering the audit seems to have taken place after the season, they may have already paid the player in the understanding that it would be cleared. The auditors may have only advised them when they actually submitted their records.
I'm sure that if it was a deliberate rort they would've tried a bit harder to cover it up.
