Brisbane have made the tough call to release highly regarded young talent Dane Gagai less than two months after re-signing him until 2014.

No Beale, no Gagai & no promise io Yow Yeh being first grade standard after that injury...things are looking bloody grim out-wide.

Don't get me wrong, if Gagai failed to meet club standards then the brunt of this falls on him but this just feels like we've shot ourselves in the foot.

Who are we going to replace these players with?

Saw it coming. Right decision at this point in time, good to see that the club has high standards and the balls to make a call like this when someone isn't living up to them.

Hopefully he learns from it though, he's a talent on the field. Big shame that he couldn't find success here, the club invested a lot of time into him.

Aaron Whitechurch perhaps? And that Liam Georgetown fella looked pretty decent in that vid BroncoMatt posted.

Whilst Gagai did seem like a talent I think it's great that Griffin is sticking to his guns. The foundation he is laying will serve us better than any single player ever will.

Also, when was the last time a player ever left the Broncos and became better? It almost never happens. Other than Dave Taylor, I can not think of a single player who has improved themselves after leaving the club. Tate, Reece Robinson, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, Fraser Anderson, Leon Bott, Chris Walker, Carl Webb, Antonio Winterstein etc. etc. It'll be Gagai's lost more than ours.

Uh Reece Robinson and TLL were way better after leaving the club. Darius Boyd was good with us but became a superstar at St George. Fraser Anderson was quite good at the Sharks actually as well.

I'll give you Boyd, sure. Robinson and TLL might be better, but they aren't losses. I mean, who sits there and thinks, damn, I wish we still had Reece Robinson in our team?

A very selective list and like Rock I disagree with a few of them. I would have loved TLL at the club in 2010, sure would have been better than Sanderson.

A list of juniors we've let go of who have been of value to other clubs...

Darius Boyd, Dave Taylor, Ben Hannant, Justin Hodges, Petero Civoniceiva, Tom Learoyd Lahrs, Tariq Sims, Neville Costigan, Matt Ballin, Nathan Friend etc.

Whitchurch has worse hands than Copley and is already being in the backrow by the Broncos staff.

I think we might need to sign a winger from elsewhere if a decent one is on the market. Does our under 20's side have any gun wingers? Is Whitchurch a genuine winger or a makeshift one like Copley?

There's a story going around that two Australian clubs are interested in Omar Slaimankhel. With Gagai being released it did cross my mind we are one of those teams (the other is Souths, who have Inglis, Merritt, Everingham and James Roberts!).

I never rated Robinson at the Broncos, but I've watched a couple of Canberra games this year and to his credit, he has been in pretty good form. I still don't think I'd want him in the broncos team though.
