I even thought for Cronulla there were times Gallen would get in the way and do too much ala Parker (and Thaiday in the first 5 rounds...omfg Thaiday in the first 5 rounds).

But he was one of our best players for Australia this 4 Nations by a long way & he is pretty epic for the Sharks, he needs to go to another club.

At Origin he is a big douche penalty queen, and that is why we hates him.

But yeah he definitely is a stats. man and a fantasy league god.

mrslong, fair point on him being Australia's best. I certainly thought he was against PNG and in the dead rubber. Then it was basically business as usual against the Poms and NZ in the final.

Considering his workrate his definitely one of the hardest working forwards in the game infact its arguably his strongest asset especially when you consider he averaged the highest amount of metres gained by a forward in 2010 and only second to David Milne overall out of anyone.

Wasn't arguing his a no nonsense working forward, not that would take anything away from him even if he was because quite frankly players who do that for a side don't often get their deserved credit IMO because often they are the ones taking workload off the ones who get all the praise. As far as mongrel goes maybe in the modern game yeah, put him against someone like Tallis in his prime back when the game was tougher and its a different ballgame altogether.

Aye, Gallen's reputation stands out clearly because there aren't as many enforcer types. Doubt he'd be able to hang with Tallis though, Tallis never took dives or commited any of the dog acts Gallen did.

He's a bit of a wanker, but he is a damn good football player IMO. To be able to do what he does given his relatively small size is rather impressive as well. He actually seemed a lot more focused on football this year, rather than his usual mindset of bashing people.

I think his stats really do tell the story in this instance. Plays 80 minutes every week and is constantly putting up good numbers and trying his heart out for his team. When you play for a team who's record is as poor as Cronulla's is, I think his effort is that much more impressive when you consider how many of his team mates just shut up shop and wait for full time.

Well deserved IMO.

Just to explain that comment, I notice Gallen will take runs even when there are MUCH better options available. He'll eat up 12m but Cronulla should've spread the ball out wider.

I think he's a good player, would easily make our starting 13, I just think there are better players.

He's one of those guys with a mistaken rep for being tough when he's really just a modern day thug.

Wouldn't give ya 5c for him. He's not a team player. Tries to do it all himself and he's shut at everything except running up the guts.
