PLAYER Gehamat Shibasaki

The thing that has dropped off the most is his lack of urgency. Just stands there and watches things unfold in front of him but just doesn't react. His metres are ****ing awful too.
 
Shibi could be out for a while

The Brisbane Broncos can confirm Patrick Carrigan suffered a syndesmosis injury in Sunday afternoon’s game against the Dragons.

Early indications suggest Carrigan is not required to have surgery and will be sidelined for approximately 3-4 weeks.

Meanwhile, Gehamat Shibasaki has sustained a Grade 2 MCL injury with an approximate recovery time of 5-6 weeks.
 
Straight after the GF he said he owed everything to Madge for bringing him out of the wilderness. This is how he repays him and the team?

Honestly, part of it is he's not getting the quality ball from Mam and therefor running the lines that led to his many linebreaks & trys but his defence has gotten worse. I feel he's slower as well.

It's unfortunate because if you flick back a page there's some great feels from last year. How quickly things change!

No one expects a journey man with an okay amount of talent to train at an elite level over an off season and get a crack.

It would be like when a rookie explodes on the seen. No one has any relevant tape on him. But after a year in the spotlight, teams start to study him an breakdown his flaws. What are his defensive shortcomings, how do you blunt his attack?

Now an average but serviceable unknown quantity is an average known quantity. He hit his ceiling and was figured out.

Talty is going through it a bit too

Then on top of that the rest of the team is playing trash too

The guy played for QLD and Australia. He was more than just average and serviceable.
 
Players usually find another gear when it's time for a contract, Shiba has gone the opposite way, which is disappointing because he really turned his career around last season. Went from a train and trial to representing QLD, to later lifting the premiership. It was one of the great stories.

He's regressed a bit. Maybe the injury lay off provides an opportunity for a bit or self reflection. Nothing gets handed to you.
 
Someone who knows more about football than me. He seems bigger and tougher than Goejetski. Why Shiba work as a 2RF ?
