I did the laziest search ever and didn't see this topic on the first page, so here are my questions.

What do you think makes a good grand final entertainment show?
What's your favourite one? (You can include SoO shows as well)

My favourite one would probably be Tina Turner, most likely to do with being a childhood memory and obviously it was an awesome day anyway.
Still though, simply the best was a great song, and I don't think I've liked any AFL/NRL themes as much since that one.

I remember a Broncos game a few years back where Carrie Underwood performed. That was way better than some of the naff Idol/X-Factor/Voice losers you see performing at so many big footy events these days!

I really don't pay any attention to half time entertainment though. I know Meatloaf came a few years back and blew really hard. Agree that Tina Turner was simply the best half time show the game has had.

I think last years was probably the best one they've done for a while. Not my taste in music as such, but it created an atmosphere and was entertainment that seemed to till the stadium. Nothing worse than when they wheel out a soft kind of band.....and that's it.

Not the fucking Stafford Brothers, that's for sure.

Is this the one Ari?

I think that's kind of what I don't like though. Warning: the following suggestions don't work for halftime at a season game, but we do get the same things at the grand final.
They drag the stage out on a tractor (and leave it there), the announcer sounds bored, there's no lighting effects, you can see the roadies on their phones looking bored, it's just 3-4 people on a tiny stage, the sound seems to be dampened, the camera work is terrible and shows off all the things I just mentioned, rather than hiding them. Worst of all, there's no sense of drama or excitement.

The NRL should watch some Super Bowls and take notes. Better yet, hire someone who's got experience organising/running one of them as a consultant. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of an event.

That's the one.

Just so we're clear, it's all about Carrie Underwood. So long as she's in the middle I don't really care what she sounds like :)

Seriously, let's just get Grinspoon to play Champion before every game and be done with it.

Its about time they chased some real talent. Money and drugs, shouldn't be hard to get some talent.

Wish they would go big. A well known world act like Tina Turner was.

Or the Madden Bros. Fucking flavour of the month muppets.

They were terrible in the pre-game of Origin 3.

Their performance did not get me pumped up at all.

Billy Moore did, though.

For me the grand final entertainment is the rugby league match

That's why I'm there; to watch the match

I am one of those folks that couldn't give a hoot about who sings during the break, and I wouldn't care if nobody did

If they have to do something, I'd rather watch something athletic; maybe a series of 100m sprint races for players in the 14 unlucky teams or something like that

If I want to see a concert, I'll go to a concert

And it costs big money to get Meat Loaf (or whomever else)

I'd rather that be spent supporting grass roots footy

I want to see those big blowup men you see outside car yards and at school fetes.

Just them. In silence. Blowing in the breeze.

For 1 hour before the game.

I wonder what happened to the guy that was operating the sponsored blimp thingy the day at Suncorp when it went up, and up, and ... gone. Out of the stadium never to be seen again. Now that's entertainment .
