NSW fullback Jarryd Hayne has re-ignited his feud with arch rival Billy Slater, declaring the Queensland fullback had "small man syndrome".

Discussing their recent altercations at club and Origin level, Hayne said: "He's got that small man syndrome so he just takes on pretty much anyone.

"It's mutual though; when we play each other we're both competitive people, we try to do the best for our teams and I think Billy's the sort of player that we can go at each other and have good friendly banter."

There was a period of time, even a couple of years where I found Slater to be very arrogant and even somewhat pretentious in the way he acted and composed himself on the field and I really didn't like him for it. However I think he has matured a lot now, I reckon this is just sour grapes. Slater is the better player by a long way and I think it's starting to get to Hayne who thinks he is gods gift to league.
