All information states that Hoffman was pushed out of this club, not the other way around. I'd laugh too if someone said they didn't need me, then after I moved on probably wished they had me around.
Yeah, Hoffman was pretty awful, but he was better than nothing, and yet again, people overlook how important experience is.
Hopefully Bennett can get one of the young guys to fire. Fast.

I was a Hoffman fan.
He wasn't pushed out, the bloke wanted to leave so that he could play fullback somewhere.
Even if we retained Hoffman and didn't sign Boyd, the same thing could've happened - Hoffman could've been the one to snap his achilles. It's not like Boyd is some injury prone player who always has these constant niggles, it was just a freak injury.
Could've happened to anyone, so I don't know why people are making such a big deal about the supposed 'fullback shortage'.
I'm not worried in the slightest, I think we'll cope. Again - this could've happened in any scenario, it has nothing to do with signing Boyd or giving Barba/Hoffman permission to leave, etc.
Talk about mountain out of a molehill. It's like people are using this just so they can sling more shit at Bennett.

I don't think it's feasible to keep extra fullbacks on the books for big(ish) money just on the off chance that Boyd, who was relatively injury free before this, would get injured. I would have loved to have kept Hoffman as a winger, but he has some sort of weird God complex that he needs to get psychiatric help with.

Of course we are using it so we can sling shit at Bennett. He dropped the stocks, and now we don't have any apart from useless players, or blokes that are untested in the position and competition.
He was given permission to speak to other clubs. It wasn't at the request of his manager, the Broncos went to him.

Hoffman was acting like a brat well and truely before either Boyd Or Bennett came on the scene and this only reinforces that won't miss him.

Hoffman is a clown, he as a player who has experienced a major sideling injury and should know the impact it has physically and mentally to get knocked down in such a manor. This is just one reason I am glad to be rid of him. If anyone thinks we would be better of with him in our team your kidding your self's, its like saying I miss that skin cancer they cut of our back.
We are in no way a worse position without Barba or Hoffman. Injuries happen anytime, our contingencies never involved these players. Months ago we complained we had to many fullbacks, these players without injury never shined, they either did a job or played shocking. Why pay top dollar for that. We have options, Eden, Kahu, Maranta, ? insert any untested potential youth talent.

This is the NRL you cant have top players replacing top players as there is a thing called the salary cap. You pick your side and every year its a gamble. You don't know who will remain fit for the whole year, what you can do is develop the second tear talent to the best of the coaches ability and hope when there called on they can do a job.

I don't understand the bagging of Hoffman, he's entitled to be a bit smiley today- if any of you got told by work I don't need you we are good for fullback and a month later they had none you'd have the exact attitude.
If Campese in a month does the same thing to Ricky- will anyone say poor Ricky and cry for the injustice of it all? No you'd all say well done Campese!
On the replacement for Boyd, I don't think there is a stand out or obvious one even a month into training. The Hunt comparison aren't relevant- Hunt was physically ready which at the time stood out all through the off-season that year.

There's a reason why Campese, Hoffman and Barba were all let go. This is professional sport, you don't keep people leeching off the cap on the off chance that someone goes down with injury. I seriously doubt Raider fans would have been in favour to keep Campese around solely for that reason, and the same goes with the Broncos. There certainly weren't too many fans of Barba or Hoffman around here last season when they were almost single handedly costing us games.
Despite Boyd going down, I'm still glad that Hoffman isn't around to ruin back line moves from either FB or 5/8. He can enjoy playing wing or centre in a bottom four side next season.
