At least he's not a scientologist

He works his arse off to crack a first grade spot, earns a hefty pay check and then throws it all away for a stupid 2yr mission that i wouldnt be suprised he is only doing because Family and religion pressured him to do it.
What? I don't feel strongly about it, why would I go do it? What a dumb comment.
You think it's stupid because you have no interest in it. It's not stupid for him, he know what he wants to do with his life and good on him.
Why is there "obviously a lot of pressure"?Coxy said:There's obviously a lot of pressure put on him by his religion, and that's why religion irks me so much. It pushes people to make dumb decisions, like this.
If you believe that, then you're very naive. The core of any religion is to captivate as many people as possible and the pressure from family and closer religious figures is imense!broncospwn said:Why is there "obviously a lot of pressure"?Coxy said:There's obviously a lot of pressure put on him by his religion, and that's why religion irks me so much. It is very likely something that he feels he wants to do, not something he's being pressured to do.
I doubt anyone could "pressure him" to lose 100's of thousands of $ unless he genuinely wanted to do the mission.

Once we get pretty advanced in the game God might push the envelope on this and command us to do something totally bizarre and immoral such as killing our children (Genesis 22:2), but most of us never reach that level.
This is in pretty much any "holy book" in various forms... Not so explicitly worded though! [eusa_dohdraggx said:Scotty said:Out of curiosity, what do these "missions" entail? Do they go around helping people or are they doorknocking to convert people?

It's an interesting discussion actually.Porthoz said:If you believe that, then you're very naive. I know what I'm talking about coming from a weird religious family (half Catholics, half JW)...
Well are you sure he didn't? He's married eusa_think Pretty sure they have to do the mission before they get married, otherwise they aren't married in heaven [icon_shruKaz said:I wonder why Ben Hannant didn't do this.
He probably loved the cash more. [icon_razz1
