I thought it was about time I started a thread!!

Even though it is no longer summer I thought it would be interesting to find out those amongst us who play indoor cricket in the off season or just for fun.

I do it for both reasons...with the hope of winning also.

Currently my team (leftovers) is 3-3 sitting 2nd in 2nd division (3 divisions) which is a pretty good effort seeing as half the team has never held a bat properly or bowled a proper cricket ball let alone play indoor cricket!

Its been a good effort from the boys, we got cracked 130-38 tonight against the top team in our division but hopefully we can bounce back next week.

If anyone plays I am interested as to how you are going, where you are playing and why you are playing.

Last of all......WAAARRRRNNNNIIIIIEEEEE [icon_lol1. [eusa_clap.gi

I play with you, in the same team as you, at the same place as you. And you're sitting next to me.

Hey look, whatever makes you two happy!

Indoor cricket? I wanted to give it a go one day, seems like a lot of fun.

What are you implying Shauny?!

You should play in my team! Its good fun, thing is it would take you an age to get to where we play (castle hill).

Are you any good at cricket? Might have to sign you up!

Well, I'm a good batter. [icon_lol1.

Nah CastleHill is a bit far.[/quote:22z9mphi]

We need batsmen at the moment, I am probably carrying the team a little bit in that regard

I play in two teams at Strathpine, I've played Superleague before. My Monday night team are the defending premiers but our best player is currently being paid to play cricket in England and we've come back to the field a bit. My Thursday night team struggles playing in the over-30s comp which is packed full of 10+ year A Grade veterans and a couple of ex State and International players. Thinking we will move to either another night or another centre.

Used to play at Arana before it was sold out from underneath Fred, but at least the management of Strathpine allowed Fred to run a couple of comps at Strathpine. RIP Arana, it was fun, competitive and friendly. Strathpine is a great place to play indoor sports (purpose built centre, new courts, good lighting etc) but Arana had that atmosphere, everyone sort of knew everyone. RIP the Arana Braves.

In short, I love the game although it seriously faks up your outdoor technique.

The only thing I like about indoor is that you have only have to run half the pitch. I'd take real cricket any day.

Fair point Clintos! I tend to agree but I enjoy it none the less. It also helps me plays in the 'V' straight down the wicket, which I dont do a lot of in outdoor. icon_smile

We had a win last night - we hit 195! Out opposition was 4 kids and their dads. If anything they are a better batting side than us, but they can't really bowl or field yet. They will be a guns in a couple of years tho methinks. The smallest dude on their team copped it, when I was batting I smacked it hard into him (accident!) and when I bowled at him, the poor little tacker copped it square in the cods and had to go off. The kid wasn't wearing a box. [icon_ee

Time for the weekly update!!

We won 110-83 last night, against Lee Benson's Team who we previously beat by 2 runs.

Great effort from the guys, I didnt think we could defend 110, but we did!

I fired up big time to try and rev us up, seemsd to work, especially when we got on top.

Daniel (WayBDay) played well with Paton (mate of mine) MOTM probably.

Mr BB played indoor cricket for years until we had baby #1. I used to watch all the games - it was awesome! He loved it - played with all his mates and had a great time. It was funny though when some teams were really full on and went nuts at every delivery.

But yeah - great social sport. I played indoor netball at the same place for a while too. Fun!

Weekly Update time!

Well this week we put in a poor bowling performance to the first pair who scored 76! We managed to pull it back to an overall total of 135, with Jeff being the star with the ball (around 6 wickets off his 2 overs).

Well bowled Jeff, keep it up bud! [eusa_clap.gi [eusa_clap.gi

I was also handy with the ball for a change and only conceeded 11 off my two overs, 4 runs of which were sundries. So I bowled fairly well tonight I think _woohoo_ _woohoo_

Then it came our turn to bat. We werent much better with the bat compared to the ball. We totaled 76 I think it was with Jeff and I top scoring with 32.

Not too bad a performance, however this team was supposedly the bottom team in our division. I find that slightly hard to believe eusa_think

Hopefully we can take some positives out of the game and improve next week in all facets of the game.

Peace out _woohoo_ _woohoo_
