Is there more going on?

After watching that disgusting excuse for a game last night I thought I would put the question to everyone is there more going on at the broncos than being let on?

The performances we have been putting in that just can't be lack of confidence. In recent weeks we have been flogged by souths and canberra who were both not in good form. Canberra have been in shit form and yet they can inflict the biggest loss of our history on us. There has to be something going on, players not happy with something I am not sure. Something needs to be sorted out, I know losing Bennett is a huge thing but it was bound to happen one day and it is not as if he is the be all and end all of the world. We have still got a class team too many good players to be playing like we are.

The club looks clueless and pathetic. Ivan Henjaks coaching has been exposed and he is obviously not up to the task. Bruno Cullen and Peter Nolan's management is beyond a joke they have alot to answer for and if the board has half a clue they will get rid of all those 3 as well as Peter Ryan. I think the problem is we are looking for someone to do the same as Bennett and get in with that Broncos culture but the thing is we probably need to get a coach from outside anything to do with the Broncos to come in and stamp his authority and rip into the players who are there who are not doing the job. Henjak cannot make the tough decisions. Finally Michaels got taken from field last night but it should have happened 5 weeks ago. He keeps putting out of form players like Setu in the team and form players in our qld cup feeder teams are not getting a run.

Anyone have any thoughts? Where are we going wrong?

I know where we're NOT going.

The Finals. :(

Something is definetly going on behind the scenes at the Broncos. I would love to be a fly on the wall with any meetings that Bruno the destroyer has.

Clinton's fine and the toilet sex incidents certainly wouldn't have helped moral in the playing ranks.

Yes I agree I can't see the club getting past it until Henjak and Bruno go so I guess we are in for along and frustrating year or 2.

Doesn't help matters when a couple of the players are not even on speaking terms with each other, not to mention the disgraceful behaviour of a former club legend...Wake up and smell the coffee beans peeps, the franchise is rotten to the core and a mass clean-out is urgently required. I feel sorry for poor ol' Ivan as he is a great guy, but unfortunately he doesn't possess the clout required and thus a coach from outside the ranks is needed to sort this joint out. Is a tragedy to see the club come to this after such a proud history [icon_frown

Who was the former club legend and what did he do?

players are not on speaking terms? Is that because of beef or because of the new kids and they don't know each other?

Guys I should not have written what I did, as details regarding an ex-player/legend and his private life should not be the subject of a public forum. In any case, the situation regarding the ex-player I referred to earlier really would not be having any effect on the playing performance of the guys. In reality, I think it just demonstrates deeper issues at the club in the sense that particular incidents and issues seem to always get swept under the carpet. There is no transparency or accountability, and I believe Cullen must accept a significant amount of blame for how the club operates.

In regard to the players not speaking, one of them is new to the club and well the other player, he should really know better. How can the guys be expected to play for one another when there is so much underlying tension as well as factions that have developed within the team. Heck, some of the players can't stand mixing with one another outside of training. Not really an atmosphere conducive to building great team spirit is it.

Well I read someone here say that Clinton is not liked.

Players not liking each other, or not mixing outside of training is not new to the Broncos.

I actually heard Bennett speak on the topic in early 2007. He said a number of the squad didn't like each other, and would of hardly spoke 10 words to each other off the field. He said you can't "make" the players like each other, the only thing he could do was to ensure that the players had respect for each for what they did on the field.
The example he cited was Hunt v Webcke, saying they didnt get on at all off the field, but on field they respected the roll each other played and what each individual brought to the team

Fair call Matt. That's a big part of the problem though, when you have such a high turnover of players over the past 12 to 24 months as the Broncs have had, it must surely be difficult for respect and trust for one another to develop within a team. When you start having small groups, or factions appearing within what should ideally be a close-knit team environment, you will as a result see this lack of respect for one another (in the context of another's ability or personality for example) manifest itself in the form of half-hearted efforts in games such as those witnessed over the past couple of months or so. You would expect much more from such a professional club as the Broncos once were, but sadly what we are seeing at the moment is a sign of things to come unless those changes which we all know need to happen occur. I'm not laying the blame at the feet of any one particular individual, but as a few posters here have already alluded to, if the front office of the joint is so dysfunctional, how can the coaching and playing group be expected to perform and behave in a way which facilitates optimal performance week in week out?

How many different 'cultures' are there in the team... how many different nationalities would there be?

How many people here can look around their workplace and say they "get along" with 25 people?

It's nothing more than human nature.

P.S. Aeetee I believe they mean culture as in young party-goers and people who prefer to life a healthy lifestyle, etc.

Maybe the rumour about the QLD team was correct.

All the Indigenous players could hang around together. [icon_shru

Hunt, Hodges & Thaiday seem to be close friends.

Man that pissed me off when hunt was in the photo with the Indigenous players.. He is an islander ffs.

Hannant must have been in a group of his own.

Folau must be lonely, seeing as he doesn't drink
