NEWS Jake Turpin’s good form key to securing Brisbane Broncos contract

Cook is better than Smith imo.Purely as a hooker.

Please........

Fucken hell......

It has to be Milford in my opinion. He’s the only guy I can see running the length of field for a try now that Roberts is gone.
Nah Oates has enough speed to run in a full length try. Staggs prob does too, and Fifita.

Oates won’t be hanging around the ruck for offloads though. The only guy who can do it best is Milford, he needs to be following the ruck more. The guys you mentioned would then be there to finish it off.

Yeah for sure. Need a half sniffing the ruck but I thought the point was more that with Roberts gone we wouldn't have a player to run a full length try, yet I wanted to point out some players that have a bit of pace. Anyone know how Deardon goes over 60m?

How many beers had you had when you posted this?
11.26am,none.Am talking purely attacking football. His speed is something Smith doesn't have and never did. When you factor in leadership, game management, permission to wrestle and the ability to control the ref obviously Smith wins.

Fair. I read that as 11pm

There is more to being a hooker than speed out of dummy half...... and Smith schools Cook in all other aspects of hooking play, both in attack and defence.

No question.......

Cook might have the speed, but still doesn't have the footy brain Cam has to know how to use his speed most effectively.

Chaulk & cheese TBH.

This thread has been re-opened. We take this opportunity to remind posters that media articles must be posted word-for-word.

....I thought the article was 100% accurate and am surprised by this admission...1

Didn't take The Lurker long...........so the Warriors have 3/4 of the NZ team and still have plenty of money to just throw at more players.......and we have no money to match eventho we've had a cleanout.......yeah riiiiight.......

The NRL Lurker: Brisbane Broncos in danger of losing in-demand hooker Jake Turpin

Dummy half in demand
The Broncos have a huge fight on their hands retaining boom rookie Jake Turpin.
The 22-year-old hooker-halfback was the one shining light in the loss to the Titans last weekend, starting at hooker and then starring at half following the injury to Tom Dearden.
It's no secret at Red Hill that coach Anthony Seibold isn't a fan of veteran hooker Andrew McCullough, with Turpin providing the team with far more zip out of dummyhalf.
But Turpin is off contact and has the Warriors, Panthers, Tigers and Eels all interested in his services.
The Warriors are clearly having troubles with Issac Luke and are throwing the biggest money at the young number nine - money the Broncos will find hard to match.

The Panthers just signed Egan and that Kenny kid. The Warriors have Roache, Lawton, and Tevaga on their books so that isn't happening. The Eels have Mahoney. The Tigers would be throwing Liddle, a kid they've been preparing for a year or two to take over from Farah, to the trash heap by signing Turpin.

So...Turpin is like every other dummy half in the competition and relies on his forward pack to go forward. Just like Macca does. Not much difference between the two tbh.
