COWBOYS signing Jared Kahu will not play for the club or any of its feeder teams in 2009 after walking away from the game over Christmas.
The up-and-coming half was signed by North Queensland after he played all but two games for Brisbane in their grand final charge in last year's NYC.
But a trip home to New Zealand over Christmas prompted a change of heart for the 21-year-old, who will remain in his country of birth to study. Kahu has a rugby background and only played the one season of rugby league, last year's campaign with the Broncos.
He is ineligible to play for any other club in 2009.

This is a real shame. i watched him a bit last year for they Broncos u20 side and he seamed to have a bit of talent, and considering it was his first year of league he would have only got better.
