PREMIERSHIP-winning coach John Lang has been linked to a coaching consultancy role at South Sydney.
It is understood Lang is poised to be appointed to a senior advisory job to mentor coach Jason Taylor, whose side lost their ninth match of the season against Melbourne in Gosford on Saturday night and are rooted to the bottom of the ladder.
"I'm not commenting about that," a tight-lipped Lang said last night. "I've been linked to so many jobs in the last 18 months … I'm sick of it.

He is no threat to JT, and is playing and advisory role. Good move by Souths IMO.

JT knows it, he is under pressure and if he doesn't deliver than John Lang will take over.

So basically, the South Sydney coaching merry-go-round continues.

It's not just the coaches though. Players, administrators are all re-inventing the wheel. It's a shame.

I just find it a bit funny that the club is doing all it can to save money and people are getting made redundant (as my position did as of today). However there is enough funds on the football team side to bring in John Lang and well Richo back to CEO is going to be costing and there is still some deadwood like Chris Green who is in a director role.

Richo was never booted as CEO when the new management came in, Richo has been wanting to leave and expand in his role, but the guy knows how to run a NRL team to minimise the loss on the bottom line and once again has to come back and do that again.

Brandon Punter was a huge loss for the club and if he was still here he would have made sure the 4 million loss was only 2 million and were Joe Kelly can't seem to look after the figures good enough.

I can't see the team making another coach change and a John Lang and JT joint coaching structure should bring some positives on the field. The players just need to do it on the field.

Rogers is their best halves option! Yet he is sitting in reserve grade absolutely killing it. Norths have won something like 8 in a row because of him _woohoo_

Rogers and Wing is the best halves pairing without a doubt. Forget Widders in the halves, hes useless.

Luke needs to play hooker, Ndaira off the bench if he is going to play.

Neither Crowe or Holmes of Opulence know enough on their own to run the club but have the cash and some positive attributes. The old school guys know and have waited in the wings for the almost inevitable ( Souths COULD have won lots of games ) crash or rough trot.

When the shit hit the fan it become an embarassment to the good business name of Holmes, he was smelling a little of failure in a business sense.It would'nt reflect well on him and I'd wager he'd already been told so by his associates.

I'd also say he's realized that Crowe is merely an actor and no smart cookie like Holmes himself and the celebrity glow has probably long worn-off, after all EVERYONE at Souths has 'spent time with,'had the ear of',Rusty.

That is not a consideration for Crowe. He needs Holmes not one bit. For him it was never charity work, it was borne of the passion a fan has married to the chance to actually do something ,something other than offer encouragement.

If they are able to survive another two seasons they may revive but Souths must follow a successful model meaning consistent cash flow and a profit however small.Optimally,Crowe should remain and be employed in an ambassadorial role, a sort of fan and sponsor combination. Look good on TV but having no imput to the running of the club and by extension never making comment about the players or coach. He needs to play a part in the media, the eternal optimist.Good vibe type of thing,nothing negative.In essence,acting...something he knows a little about.

The quotes the media need would have to come from the usual NRL clubs sources because they'd quickly tire of Crowes optimism and would seek sensation elsewhere.

With Richardson and Lang there they will become a more centred group and will support JT if Crowe can be convinced to take a backseat. Lang is probably a better mentor/coach of league now than at anytime in his past. He's had some time to see the game through our eyes, what we see on TV rather than being totally immersed in the coaches role. Truly disinterested but very interested in the game frees him up to notice other things, things lost when deeply involved in coaching.

In short this is Souths last chance to become a modern 21st Century club. Fully professional with the chook raffle way of life gone.

I agree, Rogers has 1 game in and 8 out, never gets a chance to prve himself. he has a good kicking game

Ndaira would be a good signing for the broncs if we needed another hooker. he'd be cheap.
