Have to save the Greg Inglis thread...

Is he a great player?

Honestly, I think he's a great centre who's performances in 2002-03 and 2005-2007 exemplify how great a talent the guy is.

Hell his work in 2008 and 2009 still rates a mention.

Great talent. Has underachieved. Ergo, not a "Great player".

We owe him much love for 2006...I think that gives him some grace. What a hell of a performance that year.

I'll give him 2008. But did he play 2009 did he?

He seems lazy on the field, all reports indicate he's lazy at training, and it shows in his games. He doesn't run onto the ball. Very rarely did we see him and his blistering kick chases. And the stand in one spot left step doesn't work.

He's just had an injury that he will never feel confident about, and he will never be stepping off that foot again.

He's as good as dead for mine.

Agree entirely.

He's not your traditional type of centre. He won't run onto balls at full steam and burst through a gap, or use his pace to motor past defenders.

He uses brilliant footwork and strength to fashion opportunities, and it's a marvel to watch him in full flight. Everyone says he's slow, but I reckon that's wrong. Sure, he doesn't have scintillating pace like Michael Jennings, but he's quick enough for a centre.

Can't wait till he comes back.

Also, can broncospwn please not reply to this thread. [icon_lol1.

His work in 2011 with Greg Inglis will rate him as a great once again [icon_pray.

One good year gives him NO grace. He is paid by the Broncos to be a consistent player, playing one good season does not account for abandoning the club and getting continiously injured. Shadow of a once.. DECENT player.

You don't know that at all. Everyone reacts differently to injuries.

How dare he get injured, bastard!

I love him, but can't really argue with the comments people have made.

Injuries cannot be helped in most cases, and I'm sure it's the same with Hodges, but he seems not to really invest in keeping himself uber-healthy like other players.

He's a professional athlete. Like I said, all reports say he is lazy.

We don't blame him for being injured, but how someone who is always injured... how can they be a great player? A great player needs to play football for gods sake.

How about a good player, when not injured for a long stint? :)

^^^ This.

There have been many many players with incredible talent, who have done freakish things on the field, stuff a lot of players can only dream about. For whatever reason, some out of their control, they never do it consistently, or don't have long careers.

They are not great players.

Justin Hodges is in that category IMNSHO.

In terms of injury he is in the same category as Luke Phillips in that when he's not injured we see just how good he can be.

What more does he have left to achieve?

I don't know what you consider to be 'good' football but his latest stint with the Broncos has been good.

As for consistently great football, well he had 2 years of that.
