Kahu will remain at Red Hill until the end of 2017 in a recruiting coup for the Broncos entering Friday night’s clash against the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium.
Kahu has yet to put pen to paper but has no interest in walking away from a Broncos club that supported him through two career-threatening knee reconstructions.
At rock bottom 18 months ago, Kahu has hit back with career-best form, fielding approaches from rivals after scoring five tries and amassing 1483 metres in 15 games this season.
The fact Kahu remained off-contract during the NRL’s winter months raised fears for his future, but the Broncos have sufficient salary-cap space and will formally announce his retention in the coming weeks.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett told The Courier-Mail that Kahu is going nowhere, saying the days of Brisbane losing talented players they want to keep are over.
“I am really pleased for Jordan, he has been fantastic this season,” he said.
“I have a lot of time for him and I don’t want to lose players of his ability. He’s been to hell and back at this club with his injuries, but he’s fought back really well.
“He’s had a wonderful season and I just want him to keep playing well now.”
Bennett has big plans for Kahu. The New Zealand-born utility was a teenage sensation at Keebra Park as a fullback, but with Darius Boyd entrenched in the No.1 jumper at the Broncos, Kahu is destined for the three quarters.
With veteran captain Justin Hodges tipped to retire at season’s end, Bennett is exploring his centre options on Brisbane’s right edge and Kahu shapes as a frontline contender.
Intriguingly, Kahu made his NRL debut in 2013 filling in for the injured Hodges and the Broncos skipper recently anointed the utility as his centre successor.

“I definitely see him replacing me one day,” Hodges said.
“When my time is up here, he will be ready to replace me.
“He’s had some terrible luck but Jordy is an exceptional talent, especially with his hands. He’s got those quick releases and that’s something he works on every day.”
Kahu says he has mentally recovered from the trauma of major knee operations in consecutive pre-seasons in 2011-12.
“I’ve got so much more I want to do in this sport,” Kahu said.
“The last couple of years, every time I’d step I’d be a bit nervous and wouldn’t fully commit but now I’m confident.
“I know within myself that I won’t be able to play the best I can if I’m worrying about my knees and I know that I’ve done the training to look after myself.”

Re: Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2015

Great news that Kahu will stay at the club, his had a hard run with injuries but has handled those setbacks and built confidence in doing so, his stepped up and made himself a regular fixture in the side and deservedly so.

Great signing. Despite his bad history of injuries, which ironically enough almost mirror the man he replaces to a tee, he has come alive this season and turned into one of our brightest prospects. Who knew.

Good on the kid, I hope he makes the most of it. He has a centre position for New Zealand wrapped up if he can keep up his form.

interesting wording considering the loss of Parcell and Taylor recently.

Interesting wording indeed ! Generally when someone says that it is an insult ! I tend to think Kahu is going somewhere or better still, going places !

Very interesting wording indeed. Usually when we lose talented players its for years or even forever not just days.

Yes...my thoughts exactly.

I know we can't keep them all but maybe Wayne didn't want either of those two anyway ?

Anyway, great news on the Kahu agreement.....i really like him as a player and hope the rest of his time at Red Hill is injury free !!

Maybe he meant starting now![

The key words are 'want to keep'. They WANTED to keep Kahu and Glenn and appear to have done so. They would have LIKED to keep Parcell and Taylor, but salary cap and availability of positions just wasn't there for them.

Great news. I was his harshest critic in previous seasons but he's got guts (willing to throw himself into awkawrd places) and innate talent that will flourish with more experience and confidence.

He and Maranta personify the Broncos' improvement as a squad in 2015.

Requirement for a replacement for Hodges > requirement for untested halves and utility hookers (where we have Hunt, Milford, McCullough and Nikorima brothers signed).

The worst thing that happened for Kahu this year was Boyd recovering, Kahu definitely played his best football for us when he has been at Fullback, its almost a shame he didn't and won't get more time there.

Boyd whilst he has been safe and shown a few good touches I don't think he has given us anymore than Kahu. Boyd needs to lift his game coming into the finals for mine.

I disagree.

Boyd has really improved the structure of the Broncos attack. I don't think it's any coincidence that Milford's game picked up ten-fold when Boyd came into the picture and I still think there's plenty of room for improvement.

Kahu did a really good job of deputising, but I don't think he's as good as Boyd and it remains to be seen whether he ever will be. Keep in mind, by 24, Darius was just finishing up with the Dragons, where he was a major cog in their success.

I still think Kahu will make a great centre. He's got all the attributes, but like others, what has impressed me is his toughness. That aerial contest against Taufua was a fantastic showcase of that. Not only does he cop the biggest challenge of any winger in the competition, he also has to endure Taufua's entire body weight crashing down on him. That's 105 kilos crashing on your back.

Wouldn't want to experiment with that at the gym!

Then to return and take an absolute pearler of a kick from DCE with Chee-Kam & Taufua charging towards him...sums him up to me.

Why hasn't he signed yet? Cars not driving in the rain in Brissy?

They're probably waiting for Hodges to decide whether or not he'll play next year.

A few players contracts will be impacted by this decision i'd expect.

Got to disagree. I thought Kahu did a great job deputising those first few weeks, but we're more cohesive on both sides of the field with Boyd there.

I do admire Kahu's perseverance, and he's shown both skill and courage wherever he's played this year. I do hope he gets the opportunity to settle in one position though. His versatility may restrict his growth if he keeps being bounced around from 1-5.

I was under the impression Hodgo has already decided to pull the pin after this year, in part so his salary can keep young guys like Kahu.

No official comment from the club though at this stage, although i reckon he will pull the pin.
