One of the issues is the Broncos lack direction with the football. They don't have a David Fifita, James Tedesco, Ryan Papenhuyzen etc. to play to so a lot of their sets is merely getting to tackle five and if they can't barge their way over they'll kick and hope for Coates. I actually think they have three weapons in Pangai Jr, Oates and Coates. If you create the space for them the points will come. I think Coates in particular is suffering because they think he's Israel Folau 2.0 when I think he's much better running the ball. I don't blame Walters too much because he's trying his best with the cattle he's got. He's trying to manage Pangai Jr better which is why he was getting three interchanges in a game. He's trying to figure out how to inspire these halves and whether they have anything left. I think he gave them very simple instructions but they had a shocking night against the Gold Coast and that rattled them against the Bulldogs which was a very nervous performance. On top of that he has players like Tesi Niu, Tom Flegler and Jordan Riki who are developing players and they're going to be in and out of the starting team as they learn to play at that level. The thing with structures is that they take ages to develop and a part of that learning process is trying to select the right players in the right roles. I think now with the Dearden dilmna behind him, Kev can make the most of what he's got. I still think there's a couple of changes he could feasibly make that could bump Brisbane up to that 10-12th range. Which I think is the key. Player agents aren't going to direct their players to the Broncos until the Broncos have shown that they're not a complete and utter basket case.
