League Legend Jack Gibson dies.

Did anyone hear that kiwi fan during the minutes silence to pay respect for Jack Gibson. this kiwi fan yells out (during the minutes silence [icon_thumbs_do ) "GO KIWIS" then laughs. I thought that was DOWN RIGHT RUDE AND DISRESEPECTFUL. THIS GUY SHOULD HAVE SOME RESPECT. [icon_non [icon_non [icon_thumbs_do [icon_thumbs_do

Welcome to football. Minutes silence has no meaning to a lot of fans, especially once the beers flowing.

That was extremely disrespectful...

Loved the guy that yelled out shut the f... up when they all started clapping and stuff. Give the man the respect he deserves

RIP Jack.... not that i ever saw him coach or play, but sounds like a great coach and rugby league representative/ambassador (whatever the term is).

Half hour tribute will be shown on channel 9 3:30 Sunday.

I wasn't around/old enough to witness and admire Gibson's work as it happened, but he was one of the genuine sporting supercoaches who, like another particular coach who's still in the business, made a habit of getting teams and players to play to their potential on a consistent basis, no matter what level of natural ability they had. A sad loss for the game. Condolences to the loved ones he left behind and those in the League fraternity who knew him well.

Gibson also used to help out players if they were having problems etc off the field.

Isn't Wayne Bennett a lot like Jack Gibson?

Will go down in history as the greatest coach of all time. An innovator, he was light years ahead of his peers in terms of coaching methods, and the way a coach acted - he was a mentor and father figure for his players. Watching Sterlo talk about him before the coverage last night it was obvious how much he meant to his former players, even 20 years down the track. No wonder Wayne held him in such regard, the two are very similar.

RIP.

Jack was the person who recommended, Wayne for the coaching job with Canberra.

Jack was suffering from Dementia & Alzheimer's

RIP.

R.I.P Jack Gibson - The Supercoach. You will be missed.

Condolences to Jack's family and friends. A true legend of league. And will be missed.

And props to Sterling for the way he held it together last night. Apparently none of them actually knew how close to passing Jack was and Sterling got the news from the director about 30seconds before he was on air. Considering how close he was to Gibson I think he did a great job with his impromptu min-eulogy.

I was at the game and i was shocked when i heard he had passed away.

Terrible news. R.I.P.

Well said.

I had the good fortune to enjoy his coaching results.

A legend.

The first of the really great professional coaches and for mine probably the best ever.

Sad loss to the League world in the Centenary year...........RIP Jack

Great coach with a fantastic record. Probably the first real "Man Manager" the game ever saw and this no doubt contributed to his results. Thoroughly deserved to be named as coach of the century recently and will long be remembered in RL circles.

My favourite Gibson quote - when commentating on an Origin game at Lang Park and the crowd we going off after a dodgy decision against the Maroons - "They'd boo Santa Claus this mob" - Classic Gibson - a man of few words but those that he chose to speak were thoughtful and accurate.

RIP Jack
