So I was given the great man's autobiography for father's day and it's an enjoyable enough read - pretty standard fare for these books.

However I was amused by the number of errors in the printing of it. Most of them amount to typos suggesting that they rushed it out and didn't edit it properly. The funniest one was where they (Lockyer and Koch) referred to Hook as Anthony Griffiths. Who knows maybe this print run will become collectibles thanks to the mistakes.

Anyway, there's a comment from Bennett in there that I found interesting. Locky was discussing Langer's return to Brisbane in 2002 and a short comment from Bennett ran something like this:

2002 was a premiership that got away. It's so sad to think that someone other than a player from either team decided the result of our season.

Does anyone remember what Bennett is talking about here? Was it a refereeing error or was someone suspended?

Refereeing against the Roosters, wasn't it?

Billy Harrigan was the culprit.

From memory another typo Lockyer goes on to say that his biggest loss was against the Storm 50-4, wasn't he part of the loss against Canberra too?

Yep, Harrigan destroyed us in that game. Think the penalty count was 8-0 against us or something.

I think he meant at the time. He mentions the Canberra game later on.

Ended up 8-1 or something.

Bennett elaborates in his second biography. Basically after the game he had a meeting with Bill and went through each decision. Bill defended himself on nearly every one of them except for the most pivotal penalty in the game. With about 10 remaining, Brisbane had the ball when Hodges picked a fight with McGuire (Casey smoked him by the by) in which case the penalty went against the Broncos. When Bennett brought it up to Harrigan, Bill paused, looked Bennett in the eyes apologised and said he simply got it wrong.

Bennett was livid.

An apology from that man means nothing. He was ####ing shocking. How he kept his job and was the "best" in the game when he was clearly so bias is beyond me.

I really thought this thread was going to be about Lockyer starting a car yard or something. Which would have been hilarious.

Lol I thought something alone those lines too!

It's all those other threads I've started about cars over the years...

I was hoping someone touched Locky's ute.

I was watching an old Dragons v Broncos game which had Frawley on the wing. Couldnt get his ute out of myhead

Another error I noticed is the "2001 all stars game"

Bill Harrigan was the biggest Bronco Basher of all time without peer.
