Lockyer should be equalling Ruben Wiki's record of 55 caps in the Anzac Test on May 7 at AAMI Park because he played four Super League Tests when the rest of the world ONLY recognised those internationals.

Good article. Its stupid that the ARL refuses to count super league tests, when at the time, every other major league nation in the world was part of super league

Does anyone know if the LOLZworthy ARL tests in 1997 against PNG, Fiji and Rest of the World count to the Test records of the Australian players?

If so it's a total joke.

It's the way it goes though - Dennis Lillee would have had over 400 test wickets if his haul in the "Supertests" in World Series Cricket were counted. I don't mind either way but it is stupid that the other countries recognise SL test and we don't - it should be consistent

That's the difference though, Super Tests in cricket didn't count for anyone. None of the teams involved were officially recognised by their nations.

In League, the ONLY nation that didn't recognise Super League was Australia. Every other nation, including the IRLF, recognised the Super League teams as official representatives.

It's a joke.

I did read somewhere that the arl does count the tests against png and the rest of the world as tests

Totally agree that it's a joke the "tests" against the minnow nations are recognised, but the SL tests against the full strength test nations aren't. It's the same as for many years Newcastle were credited with a 97 premiership but the Broncos weren't - despite each team only winning half a competition. At least now both premierships are recorded in the history books.

The thing is there are a number of players who only played SL tests and no others during their career, but they likely would have been selected in a fully united Kangaroos team that year anyway - but the record books show them with zero tests, while others who would not have been selected in a united Kangaroos squad are credited with playing tests, it's ridiculous.

I dont see how a game against 'the rest of the world' is a test, its an exhibition game...

I didn't really have a problem with it one way or another due to it being a break away competition and all of that. However I just read that the Super League tests that the Kiwis and the Poms played count, so that makes it ridiculous.

Heard on the radio this morning so no link provided that Locky might no even play in the first test as the birth of his baby is due only a couple of days after the test.

The ARL aligned plays where credited with tests agains PNG , rest of the world and Fiji I think it was, ARL is a total joke if they don't credit him with the tests hopefully the new commision will sort it out for all the SL players when they come into affect

That was always on the cards - if she goes into Labour the day of the test, he will likely ensure he is at the birth, if not, he'll likely play the test. She's not due until the week after the test so I actually don't think he will have to even make the decision.
