LOL @ Titans thread v.2012

I hope they do. There are other bids who can learn from these idiotic mistakes, who are ready to play, and who are more deserving of being in the league.

ARL, NRL and fans need to get off this big "It's good for the game" ****. It's not good to have a brand new club in the papers with no money. It's not good to have a club continue to overspend, then seek grants from the NRL.

The sooner the NRL grow some balls and start revoking licences, the better.

Any danger of posting from the real world Nashy??? The NRL isn't just going to kick clubs out. They have proven this over the years with broke Sydney clubs.

I am posting from the real world. Hence I HOPE they kick them out.

Surely you believe the Titans can be rehabilitated though.

It would be difficult to cut some Sydney clubs because of the long standing tradition and proud history some of them have.

It shouldn't matter. We want strong clubs, not charity cases.

As it stands the Broncos are the only club who made a profit last year. Pretty crazy IMO. All clubs need to make profits otherwise they will keep going backwards.

No it wouldn't.

If clubs need/ask for a handout from the NRL to pay their players etc, then they don't deserve to be in the comp.

The NRL won't kick out the Titans, as they won't want the Suns to have the entire Gold Coast to themselves.

The Suns can have the **** hole. It's a league grave yard.

I agree, but the NRL don't want to admit that they are fackwits.

Broncoman, Just so you know the Broncos don't rely on handouts.

And 2 years ago Paul Broughton declared the Tits would overtake the Broncos as QLD'S No 1 NRL franchise. Dream on mate hope your enjoying licking the spoon. It's the Chargers all over again.

Haha, I remember that.

The one season we miss the finals after having made it the previous 18 and the prick pipes up with that garbage.

Maybe as far as NRL franchises are concerned, but the game is pretty healthy and well supported down here. This sort of statements have no foundation whatsoever.
Let's not confuse the idiotic behaviour of a CEO with delusions of grandeur with the status of the game on the Gold Coast, which has almost as many Rugby League excellence programs for youth as the much bigger Brisbane, a healthy youth competition and 2 established Qcup teams as well.

It is the fastest growing city in Australia, which obviously implies it had a lot of expats, as well as the evident growing pains that come with the territory, but it's a great place to live (well, not everywhere) and it's a Rugby League city!

Unlike some Sydney teams, we cannot afford to drop a Gold Coast franchise, but the ARLC has to intervene and put things back on track at the Titans.
Sell the centre of excellence, forget the big signings and explore the local talent pool. While it may be a few meager years, the rewards will come...

Gold Coast Titans debt blows out to $35 million

The embattled Gold Coast are on the brink of financial ruin as it emerged the level of debt on the Titans' empire has blown out to an extraordinary $35 million.

As the Titans head to the Federal Court today to fight wind-up proceedings against its property arm, The Courier-Mail can reveal the magnitude of the club's financial haemorraghing, which is worse than the initial forecasted debts of $25-30 million.

And in another crippling blow, Gold Coast commercial property experts last night estimated the Centre of Excellence will not fetch more than $20 million - meaning a proposed sell-off of the controversial building is unlikely to save the Titans from going to the wall.

It's getting worse.

Can't see Searle lasting much longer at the club.
