LOL @ Titans thread v.2012

Just checked the score on the tv and they are down 20-0 with 20 to go.:lol:At the Tits.

Does anyone remember 2 years ago that Paul Broughton (the tits chairman) predicted that the Gold Coast were going to overtake the Broncos. What an idiot.

You've already said that. In this very thread.

;-)

Seriously, I think the only way anyone would be interested in purchasing the Titans would be if Searle was well and truly gone. he's cancer.

Gold Coast-bound Dave Taylor considers options as Titans troubles mount

Prize Coast recruit Dave Taylor is examining his options after revelations his new club could collapse under a $35 million debt.

The Queensland Origin forward will hold talks this week with his manager to discuss the validity of the four-year, $1.8 million contract he agreed with the Titans last week.

The Rabbitohs have not given up hope of keeping Taylor and are understood to be ready to re-open negotiations.

Taylor's manager Col Davis phoned the Rugby League Players' Association on Friday to ask whether Taylor's agreement with the Titans was binding.

I would consider leaving to if I was him, there is no future there.

Ian Schubert may as well buy an apartment on the Coast. Unless the Titans buy one for him.

Well now they are rumoured to have offered Cronk 800k a season. On what planet can they afford that?? Did Myles, Douglas, Idris and champion sign for nothing?

Over or under the cap aside, how are they affording this?

THE Titans' fight for survival has taken a dramatic twist with a high-powered consortium drawing up plans to buy the NRL licence and save the club from a $35 million debt.

The Courier-Mail can reveal a group of Queensland-based businessmen have begun due diligence into a takeover of the Titans, whose future in the NRL appears perilous as an independent auditing firm continues its inquiries into the club's finances.

Under the multi-million dollar buyout plan, Titans managing director and majority owner Michael Searle would be swept aside as part of a systematic overhaul of the ailing club.

The NRL has been notified of the looming takeover bid.

It is believed the consortium will step up plans this week with a view to submitting a formal proposal to NRL lawyers.

And that seems like the only way this will get sorted, if Searle goes and some real administrators come in.

I hope the Titans don't fold .... it'd be a shame for league fans

i don't think the NRL can afford for the Titans to fold, they can't afford to give the AFL free rein on the Gold Coast

A few ppl keep saying they are getting handouts but I'm not sure that's accurate. I know they have received advances on the club grant for cash flow purposes but handouts imply money given which doesn't need to be repaid. Can anyone give a link which confirms handouts?

As far as Cronk getting $800k don't forget the new TV deal which will significantly increase the cap and any deal would more than likely be backended so the bulk will be paid when other well payed names have left.

Titans are one of the dearest to buy tickets to go & watch a game or two.

They are pricing themselves out of the market.

Searle will try & cling to power, as he likes being in charge.

at this stage the cap raise is only to 5 million. so with Cronk and Taylor on 1.2million combined that leaves 3.8million for 23 players. and Idris would be on decent money or he would have stayed at the Bulldogs, Prince would also be on significant money.
