"Magic" Round 9 discussion

Plenty of injuries coming out of magic round, mostly in the feet. Watch the clubs blame stadium management (and a little side microphone hiss at the Broncos of course) and not the NRL

Of course but whoever made the decision to to play all these games at the one stadium should be shot. How is churning up a ground four days in a row and then backing up with one game the next week a good idea?

Surprisingly though the ground looks in great shape.

I haven't heard anybody from any team blaming the surface (yet)

look closer. It looks shit. I wish it rained for the first 3 days. It would have been literally unplayable today.

Ennis and Kev Walters just did an interview onfield before the Roosters/Raiders game.

Ennis said he couldn't believe how good the condition of the ground was.

Lara Pitt with an exclusive there, “He’s telling us it’s a groin injury”. Thanks Sherlock.

Yeah they said that yesterday too, but they are clearly wrong or just saying it because NRL asked them to. You can tell by simply looking at it.

Yeah it's fucked. Brown patches everywhere, flying off the heels every run.

That's not a great look when the medicab drivers have humungous smiles on their face as they drive out.

Lol, really? There are probably no replays, but that's funny.

Roosters are picking up a few injuries going into our game with them next week. They are still playing great though, but we need all the help we can get.

Nine-year-old Toowoomba boy Angus Hopkins experienced the best rugby league has to offer during Magic Round.
Thrown into the spotlight for his lengthy plight for an electronic wheelchair from the NDIS, Hopkins drew the attention of Storm prop Christian Welch, who reached out through social media to organise something special for the young Broncos fan.

Hopkins, who has cerebral palsy, was embraced by the rugby league community when his story hit the headlines a fortnight ago.
Living with his mum Jody Ezzy on their farm 40kms outside of Toowoomba, the family has been forced to use a wheelbarrow to get their spirited and independent boy from A to B while enduring a frustrating wait for NDIS support.
Welch was one of the many who reached out to the family, calling Angus and helping rally a special weekend for he and his family.

“Its been fantastic because the wheelchair is being made, it’s being sent out in I think six to eight weeks,” Welch said after Storm’s 64-10 win over the Eels.
“People talk about the negativity of social media but we’ve been able to organise such a special weekend for Angus and his family.
“They’re doing it quite tough. Jody, Angus’s mum has had to work throughout the weekend because they need the money to support the family. They’re a good, tough, Queensland family and I’m really glad to help them out.”
Angus came to the Storm captain’s run on Friday and was taken into the Broncos sheds on Friday night following their 26-10 win over the Sea Eagles.

The manager of the Brisbane Marriott also offered to put the family up in the hotel for two nights so they could enjoy a bit of fun at Magic Round.
“That’s amazing because that would have cost a lot of money for the hotel to do,” Welch said.
“The Broncos brought them into the sheds, Anthony Milford gave him his footy boots.
“He had gold tickets to [Saturday night], he came with his dad and his sister and stayed at the Marriott.”
Welch, who is fast developing a reputation as one of the most socially conscious players in the NRL, said the power of social media can be used in a positive way.
“It’s really nice to do something for people who are disadvantaged and battling,” he said.
“There’s nothing better than putting a smile on a kid’s face and being able to use my profile in that way.”

Nice touch Welchy and the Broncs.

LU is blowing up at Suncorp calling it a dump and a shithole lol what shocking news.
