Not even round 1 and we already have injuries!!

Not sure of the full extent but reports are PJ Marsh tore his hammy at training today and will miss round 1 against the Cowboys.

Well done PJ! That wont do your chances any good for securing the no.9 position will it....a real shame

Now I'm here thinking "what a stroke of Genious prying Gorrel back from the superleague". Not that this is a long term looking injury but even if its the 1st couple rounds it will be good to have the choice / combination of gorrel and/or McCullough.

Marsh should just retire. That or take a dose of harden the **** up.

I feel for the guy he was on fire in the opening rounds last year before injury and then Louganis stole his thunder/diving platform. I hope they go with McCullough though coz Gorrell as mediocre at best.

In fairness, Gorrell was coached by Nathan Brown while he played in the NRL. Can only expect so much...I mean, Brown was a mediocre hooker at best.

You really have to feel for PJ. Could've gone so much further in his career if it hadn't been for injuries. Poor bugger.

Have to echo the sentiments of others around here though... I think Gorrell has shown over the short course of his career so far that he can well and truly handle NRL grade football, and McCullough is coming along very nicely too. I think we'd be far further up sh*t creek if this happened to one of our props.

Gorrell will carve up for the broncos!!!!

On what basis? He did very little for the Dragons and was stuck behind other mediocre hooking talent as the second choice rake there, he wasn't even going all that great in 2nd rate super league. He should do the job and that's it, he doesn't have the talent of either Ennis (gulp) or Marsh and I would much prefer McCullough get first crack at the hooking spot.

To play devil's advocate; on what basis?

He is young and has a decent future, Gorrell is in the latter half of his career and is unlikely to get better than his mediocre level.

Hence why I said give him first crack not put him there and leave him there regardless of results.

Coxy, you have a great grasp of grammar, you are articulate and your former conservative tendencies have thankfully shown recent signs of diminishing. I always read your stuff because I can always relate to at least some of your musings.

However, you got it so wrong Nathan Brown.

This guy was all class.
Mediocre at best is a worrying description.
I expected more insight and acknowledgement.
Brown was an excellent player.
Enough of the succinct sentences but you know I wrote them for effect.

Well you can't have McCullough in the side without Gorrell, because McCullough can't go 80 minutes at this stage.

Oh I agree, I want McCullough starting with Gorrell/Marsh as his backup, if its not working swap and have Gorrell or Marsh start with McCullough as the bench player.

I'd be happy with that. However, if Gorrell plays awesome and shows he could go 80 minutes, and McCullough is playing ordinary, then it'd be only fair the Gorrell gets the number 9 jersey full-time until McCullough shows some good form in the lower grade.
