So, not much on this yet? It came out in yesterday's paper. Is this further proof of the exodus? Could the NRL do more to keep him here, seeing as he will only be 24?

He hasn't actually stated why or what he wants from RU, my thoughts would be somewhere along the lines of him never having to get hurt again. Thoughts?

Well he'd never have to tackle big 110kg forwards running flat out. That'd be part of it. Plus he's achieved all there is to achieve in the game. World Cup and premiership.

True. Maybe I just don't give him the credit he deserves eusa_think

IMO, he's an overrated running back, that breaks i every tackle, luckily got through the WC, has never got through a full NRL season and wouldn't get a look in the QLD SoO side...possibly crack the Blues team...possibly.

He survived the WC final, which was tougher than any origin game in the past decade.

I agree Hammo, don't think he lived up to his hype (Prince made him what he was in 2005), but yeah despite that, I guess he has achieved all he can in RL. Maybe he should go to Toulon - they're mad for over-hyped injury-prone NZ ex-RL players.

He's pretty ordinary IMO. Flashy at times but nothing special. Give him to Souths :P

LOLZ! Smells good, nice presentation. 7/10

He is a great attacking talent but to make it in union would have to play 15,14 or 11 because he is simply to small and can't tackle to save himself.

Berrick Barnes? Matt Giteau?

He'd never crack either the wings or fullback IMO. Far too small.

I know what you meant, but Marshall with the combination of his lack of a tackling technique and lack of size would be just about impossible to fit anywhere in a union side.

I still think he has much more to show in RL even though he has achieved some high accolades.
People argue he will never be a dominant player, but I think with vast improvement, especially in his defense, he could really be something in the next couple of years, I just dont rate him highly as other people do right now. On the other hand, injury has been his worst enemy by a long shot, so maybe a change would do him the world of good. I wish him the best regardless.

People could argue the same about Lockyer.

Yeah but he is a rugby league world champion something most of the Aussie cant say they have done, and without him they wouldnt have won.

lolz, doordan the reality is that the Kiwis won a single game.

Marshall is far from dominant.

Also, why do Kiwis (except the greats) always quit the tough stuff so early?

Would be a loss to the game. IMO he's a player who hasn't gone close to reaching his true potential, courtesy of far too many injuries.

On the other side, though - if he wants to chase the coin he should just bugger off. The best part about league is that one legend leaves and there are six kids looking to step up into his shoes. Lockyer moves from fullback, and the explosion of some of the best custodians we've ever seen happens at once - Slater, Stewart, Bowen and Hunt. Joey retires, and we've still got the likes of Scott Prince and Thurston stamping their marks. Ho-hum.
