Last time i posted a thread on BHQ looking for footwear advice everything ended well so i thought i would again. [icon_lol1.

In the market for some new runners, nothing too expensive though, not as if i go out and run 10km a day or anything.

Tossing up between these two, the latter is about $25 cheaper.

Asics GT 2130

Both wide feet shoes, well because i have wide feet. icon_smile

But yeh, leaning towards Asics because i know they are quality. Any other recommendations are definitely welcome.

I'm guessing Coxy will be able to help me. icon_smile

The Foot Doctor I went to a few weeks a go told me Brooks Runners are the way to go!!

It always depends on the person. For me, for example, any brands other than Nike give me stress fractures in my feet - and yes I've tried many styles in pretty much every brand. So I always buy Nike. Even to the point where when I was in the Aussie juniors and we were sponsored by ASICs and got free shoes, I couldn't wear them to compete - had to give them away.

ASICs or New Balance for me.

Im not much help other than to say Asics FTW!

Though the model I wear is $220 retail. I need the stability of it, have very flat feet. Gel Evolution.

Asics are good, just try a few models to see what feels like it's comfortable! icon_thumbs_u

Ning I've got the Nimbus but for some reason find them heavy to run in so won't be going them next time and will return to Gt's which I found good last model I had........but each to there own

I always go to athletes foot and leave my feet in the semi capable hands of a cute 16 yr old sales gal.

[icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. Go there and get fitted as they are at least properly trained in fitting the right shoe, but for price shop around as you will always get cheaper than Athlete's foot

Except they're even pricier than the Evos! [icon_lol1.

Not if you can get them at staff-ies! Admittedly they are pricey but I've had mine since the start of 2005 and it doesn't look like I have to buy another pair for another 3 years atleast. They are comfortable, durable and I've never had any issues with my feet *touch wood* - they are just quality. It's like walking on marshmellows they are that good. I highly recommend them even at the price, they are an investment in your feet, you only have two so look after them. icon_thumbs_u

Obviously not using them for running in Denny....6 years out of them [icon_ee [icon_ee

Clearly not, especially in the past year I haven't been doing nearly enough running as I should be though I did give them a good working over in the first two years.

Come to think of it nowadays I only wear them when I get to the gym, if I'm coaching then I'm in my tennis shoes (which aren't nearly as comfy) and when I'm on the oztag or touch field then I'm in my boots.. if I keep this up I could squeeze another 10 years out of them! [icon_lol1.

Yeah I go through a pair of Evos every 3-6 months, but when I'm fit (sob) and training I average 15-20km of jogging/walking a week since I joined the gym. Before that I was topping 30km.

Shit Coxy! I have been averaging about 12-15km of jogging/running per week for the last 3 months and my 3 year old Asics are still in awesome nick. [icon_shru Previous to this I have been using them for both running, sports and everything else. Still great.

When you say "go through a pair" do you mean that they don't fee comfy anymore or they break or what?

As I say, I need the support of the Evolutions because I have flat feet. After 3-6 months of wear, I can feel pain in my ankles and knees as the support of the midsole starts to give way. Plus the sole starts to wear unevenly (more on the inside than the out, which means the foot is rolling in too much).

I get new shoes then rather than start dealing with constant knee pain (which I have now anyway...bloody meniscus tear!)

If your foot is rolling out Coxy in the evolutions, probably should go to something with a bit less medial support. Something like the 2130 is going to be way better, still has medial support but not as much as the evolution.

NNN, it depends on your foot type. If you have a fairly neutral foot the Nimbus is going to be better, but the 2130 has a lot more support. I'd even try the Brooks Adrenaline, Nike Structure Triax/Equalon or Addidas adistar control if you want the support or Brooks Radius, Nike Air Zoom Vomero or Mizuno Wave Nirvana if you just need the cushoining.

I am a massive fan of the Nike Air Zoom Vomero. I've got orthotics for sesamoiditis and they are a dream shoe, probably the best cushioning I've worn in a runner, and I work in a shoe shop. If you need arch support they aren't going to suit but for neutral feet I highly recommend them.
