Saw him on the Roast today. From what I understand, he is from Ipswich, and was part of the Queensland dream team thing last week. But on the Roast he was talking about the Blues and from the way he was talking, it sounded like he was a blue. ie/ referring to the Blues as 'we' and to the Maroons as 'they'. What's the deal? He played in Sydney for a long time, and so would have represented NSW because it was residency based back then, not Origin.
He was also hooker in the Australian team of the century I think.
I enjoyed his presence from the bit of the show I saw, he was witty and seemed to talk a lot of sense (which, to be honest, lots of the old timers don't, act like dinosaurs etc). I'd have him on the panel ahead of Matthew "Watch me laugh at my own crap jokes" Johns every week.

Yeah, although while I generally like hearing Gus's viewpoint on many things League, he tends to get on his anti-video ref soapbox too much on the Roast.
Johns is a waste of space.

Paul Kent) is that they say ridiculous comments, so ludicrous, sometimes I wonder if they are actually being serious. Anyway, Gus is great on the show, but I agree, this new garbage about VIDEO refs, he goes on about it too much, its getting boring, and Flutterby is right, I reckon Voss baits Gus on more than just that.
Lately The Roast is getting crappier, running out of things to talk about, hence garbage segments starting to show up... half of the show is still good though, when everyones voicing their opinions about the game and such.
Still the best NRL TV show around I think... (I havent seen NRL on FOX in ages)
Paul Langmack should go back to owning Hungry Jack's franchises. He is a massive wanker and has absolutley no idea about footy. And to make it worse he tells jokes that are about as funny as cancer, and then is the only person who laughs at them! As long as they keep that fuckwit off the roast its not too bad.
The Roast is getting too repetitive.
Gus is only running his own agenda about the video ref, I personally like the video ref ( but should only be restricted to in-goal or foul plays IMO.
Matt Johns brings nothing to any debates, whenever there is a serious issue being debated he brings up some BS story that's not even funny, everyone has a cackle then goes off topic leave the jokes to Hey Hey it's Newcastle Knights footy show.
That other boofhead Mark Geyer who struggles to put 2 sentences together, pulls off some rediculous facial gestures whenever the camera is on him.
Get some people on there that really wants to talk about footy and the problems with our game.
Maybe Wally Lewis, Sterlo, Warren Ryan and an NRL board representative would be a good start.
plus a 10 minute segment where fans can call in and ask the panelists questions and have their say would be a great idea aswell.

NRL on Fox is pretty downhill now.Same guests mostly and concentrate on mainly one team.Freeman is my fav and can't handle Bronco hater Smith at all.Alexandra isn't bad also.
