QLD's Premier has just announced the border will open by December 17, 2021 with no quarantine requirements between states. This means the NRL competition should be able to proceed as before the pandemic, subject to local outbreaks. If NZ follows suit, the Warriors should also be able to return to NZ and host home games.
Despite vaccination, this remains a highly contagious illness, and many players will get sick. It will spread rapidly through the close contact of the competition and they'll need down time, and be below their best for several weeks post illness. So while business might return to normal, we can expect it to be impacted heavily by illness. We'll be seeing all our thirty fairly quickly, that's for sure.
Because these players are young, vaccinated and at peak physical condition it's unlikely many, if any, will wind up in hospital. But it's still a possibility given the sheer numbers involved.
And if you haven't already got vaccinated yourself because of stuff you've read that's put you off, now's the time to get over your fears and get it done.
