Our club has had dickheads over the last few years. I don’t see why we couldn’t squeeze one more in.

because we've just finished clearing most of them out. it would be a reversal of Kev's and Benny's current strategy.

I believe he got charged with assault earlier this year outside a pub or nightclub.

not sure what happened with that case

Charges were dropped. He pushed a security guard.

Hardly something worthy of putting a line through his name.

500k would be a bargain. Grab him if the opportunity presents itself.

Nine extends rights for 5 years, signed on for 2023-2027.
"The new broadcast deal will give Nine three additional matches across the season, resulting in more NRL on free-to-air television, plus new digital rights to offer footy fans a premium viewing experience that cannot be matched."
"expanded broadcast, digital offerings and reporting of the NRLW competition"
"State of Origin will return to its traditional home of Wednesday nights"
Nine will air 3 extra games during the season (not per round)

115m per year, which is the same as the current deal.

According to Cheif Beta Officer, the NRL has 400 million secured per year across all broadcast rights.

That's a great deal for nine, well done Lord Vlandy's.

nine get to pay the same price for more content ... maybe they engaged Ponga's father to do the negotiating for them

p.s. Vlandys and Abdo are getting praised in the media for this deal ... saying they've pulled of a coup for the NRL

Hmm...media guys praising the other side for the deal they have received that benefits them...nothing dodgy to see here whatsoever.

after saying there would be no more rule changes, the NRL are set to introduce another rule change for next season.

according to Crawley the change will be aimed at stopping team intentionally giving away a six again early in the set.

the change is that defensive teams will again be penalised for infringements inside the 40m zone.

a much needed change IMO, but the 6-again rule is still BS

They need to implement a rule where teams can't lay all over the ruck if there is like 10 seconds left to go in the half, the way it is the worst that will happen is they get another set.. how does that advantage them?

They should make it so it's an old school penalty where you can kick it down the field for a tap, or a shot at goal, the other alternative is to make is so the attacking team gets to play out the entire set (regardless of time left in the half), similar to union, however once the final play is done and the other team is due to get the ball that's the end of the half.

correction, they just need to enforce that rule ...

they tried to do it a few seasons ago, but the media started whinging about the number of penalties, so they backed off. (funnily enough, the Storm were struggling a bit while it was enforced) ... if they have kept up their strong stance, players and coaches would have eventually learned, the penalty counts would have returned to normal and the game would be far better off.

Shock horror ... who ever could've seen that teams would exploit a garbage rule that was probably brought about by a poll in the Daily Tele

Ohh maybe anyone that thought about it for more than a minute 🙄🙄

The NRL are considering a proposal from Ricky Stuart to allow all of the clubs contracted players (top 30, development, train and trial) to be eligible to play from round 1, instead of after round 11.

this is due to COVID, as a precaution in case squads have players required to go into isolation during the season and hopefully prevent the cancellation of fixtures or the season

It makes complete sense to allow it, therefore they won't do it.

How does that work with work and study? Nearly always train and trial players and Development players are working or studying and not earning much money from football.

They’re not on the cap either.

Train and trial aren’t capped either some clubs might have 40 like the Titans and some like the Broncos 8.
