The NRL has announced that the Dally M Awards will be held over two nights this year ... another pointless change from this administration IMO.

NRL Chief Executive Andrew Abdo said:

“The Dally M Awards showcase the exceptional performances of the season and this year we can celebrate the achievements of our players and officials across two events,’’ he said.

“With the entire competition relocated to Queensland in 2021, it was important to think differently for our awards this year.

“We have a new format and the first ever Dally M event in Queensland, ahead of the first ever Grand Final in Brisbane.

“The new format will allow some players and guests in Brisbane to experience the gala evening in person while Fox Sports will ensure a state-of-the art experience for players and officials who have returned home.”


Fox Sports Executive Director Steve Crawley said

“We can’t wait to highlight the incredible performances of the players this season and the new format will better help us tell the stories of the game’s best,”

Format:

• The first television event will provide a greater spotlight on the supporting awards that are traditionally crowned on Dally M night and build excitement towards the Dally M Medal count a week later.
• The second event, on Monday, September 27, will feature the major award winners including the Dally M Medal, the Dally M Team of the Year, Coach, Captain and Rookie of the Year.

Is this just to give Fox some more coverage to chuck on Fox League??

Ok so, because the NRL relocated to Queensland its "important" to think differently about the awards?

On what planet do you go into a meeting to discuss the dally M awards, bring up the competition moving to QLD and conclude you should hold an award ceremony which regularly has its integrity questioned and consists of 10 awards maximum over two nights rather then one?

That's same the same as me deciding because poland has had a colder then normal summer, I'm going to wash my dog on every fourth Friday rather then every 3rd sunday.

Honestly the games administrators do some great work but man they have some strange ideas.

The Fergo incident tonight was an absolute blight on the game. 2022 must have a rule, if you're so injured and you're unable to stand up and play the ball because of a head injury, it should be a mandatory HIA with the doctor in the sheds. It's an absolute joke, with such a simple fix.

Strike two: Panthers trainer who stopped play against Eels warned before

The Penrith trainer hauled over the coals for an incident earlier in the year is now under investigation by the NRL. He wasn’t even on the field at the time.

The Penrith trainer at the centre of an NRL investigation could be suspended for Saturday night’s preliminary final against Melbourne following revelations that he was issued a show-cause notice for unnecessarily stopping play earlier in the year.

He told the touchie to stop the play before he even got on the field. The NRL are "investigating" if Penrith "intentionally" broke the rules. lol.

Rules for stopping play:

• Either a doctor needs to make an assessment, or a trainer if it's a head injury
• Needs to tell the touchie who then relays it to the main ref
• Should only be stopped for a serious injury or a head injury

They should be removed from the finals campaign. Breaches like this aren't just a joke IMO. They harm the fabric of the game and should be dealt with incredibly harshly. If they're not removed (and they won't be) they should cop a 250k fine at least.

Now does anyone in the media want to speak about the report interchange rorting? It's not technically illegal which makes it even worse that the media won't speak up about it.

And because Penrith won't be kicked out of the finals, whatever penalty the NRL hand down (if there even is one) will be considered well worth it.
It's a bit like the penalty for robbing a bank was $100k. As long as you could get $200k from each heist, who cares?

Would it also be too much to ask that the touch judges actually know the rules too? I mean, what else do they actually get paid to do anyway? It sure isn't watching the game.

Also, watching the highlights, was there a conversion from a Manly player that clearly went wide but got called ok?
