Damn, I remember these games.
Round 2 2006 - Was far from convincing but the boys showed plenty of heart in the second half and turned what looked to be another disappointing night into a win. There was nothing pretty about it but the main thing was the Broncos finally broke their losing streak and could move forward. Also features one of the more underrated tries in Broncos history to Casey McGuire. In a sense, Lockyer's part was like a sneak preview into the try that would win us premiership #6.
Round 3 2006 - As good as it was to break the losing streak, it wasn't until this game that I started to feel confident about the Broncos chances moving forward. Was also happy to see Tame 'Gary' Tupou bag a double - he had been a personal favourite of mine since his debut against the Panthers way back in 2004.
Round 5 2006 - As cocky as it sounds, this was one of those games you go to knowing full well your team is going to win and it's just a case of how many. I never felt bothered when I watched the game and the only disappointing aspect was that we lost Michael Ennis for the season. That really sucked actually because I was a big fan of his and thought his presence would be a deciding factor in our premiership win. This was also the game where I was really happy we had discovered young Darius Boyd and no longer had to rely on the likes of Minto, Kelly and Frawley. I really liked that play he set up for Lockyer and while he wasn't quite Tuqiri I knew the guy wasn't a plod either. Watching it back in 2010, I actually thought it was a crap performance from the Broncos and we were pretty lucky to be against a side like Souths who were struggling with the basics of the game and couldn't complete their chances.
Round 8 2006 - One of the strangest games I've been to. It seemed like neither side was doing much of anything and then out of no where the Raiders scored 18. The score didn't really feel like a true reflection of the contest and sure enough in a matter of minutes the Broncos took the lead making for a really tense final 30 or so. Like the Cronulla game, they turned what should have been a disappointing night into a positive one but that flow of points was just baffling.
