NRL Match Highlights

Damn, I remember these games.

Round 2 2006 - Was far from convincing but the boys showed plenty of heart in the second half and turned what looked to be another disappointing night into a win. There was nothing pretty about it but the main thing was the Broncos finally broke their losing streak and could move forward. Also features one of the more underrated tries in Broncos history to Casey McGuire. In a sense, Lockyer's part was like a sneak preview into the try that would win us premiership #6.

Round 3 2006 - As good as it was to break the losing streak, it wasn't until this game that I started to feel confident about the Broncos chances moving forward. Was also happy to see Tame 'Gary' Tupou bag a double - he had been a personal favourite of mine since his debut against the Panthers way back in 2004.

Round 5 2006 - As cocky as it sounds, this was one of those games you go to knowing full well your team is going to win and it's just a case of how many. I never felt bothered when I watched the game and the only disappointing aspect was that we lost Michael Ennis for the season. That really sucked actually because I was a big fan of his and thought his presence would be a deciding factor in our premiership win. This was also the game where I was really happy we had discovered young Darius Boyd and no longer had to rely on the likes of Minto, Kelly and Frawley. I really liked that play he set up for Lockyer and while he wasn't quite Tuqiri I knew the guy wasn't a plod either. Watching it back in 2010, I actually thought it was a crap performance from the Broncos and we were pretty lucky to be against a side like Souths who were struggling with the basics of the game and couldn't complete their chances.

Round 8 2006 - One of the strangest games I've been to. It seemed like neither side was doing much of anything and then out of no where the Raiders scored 18. The score didn't really feel like a true reflection of the contest and sure enough in a matter of minutes the Broncos took the lead making for a really tense final 30 or so. Like the Cronulla game, they turned what should have been a disappointing night into a positive one but that flow of points was just baffling.

I got lazy and couldn't be bothered making a highlights video of this game so I just uploaded the whole thing..

I think you should do this with all of them as the video quality isn't up to your usual standard. You shouldn't tarnish that image you have by making terrible visual quality videos that are out of your control :P But seriously, I for one really appreciate these videos as I'm tired of looking at texts books and referencing and looking at indistinguishable notes that I apparently wrote during a lecture.

Just chilling out looking at some old games and stumbled across the infamous 7th tackle final of 2013. I remember this game very well when it happened but I watched it just to refresh my memory.

Such a shame after the game all anyone wanted to talk about how the Cowboys were robbed of a win but I completely disagree that they were robbed. The 7th tackle thing happened ironically in the 7th minute and it just leveled the score whilst it's also worth noting the Sharks took the ball the length of the field to score it. The Sharks also had to take back the lead twice and score in the final 10 minutes and the Cowboys bombed the winner on the final play of the game. It was very dissapointing that the aftermath just focused on how the Cowboys were robbed took the shine away from what is a good finals contest IIRC.

Kane Linnett must've felt like the luckiest guy in the world afterwards, nobody remembers him bombing the winner and being dragged out by John Morris.

P.S; after what was posted in the Round 2 discussion and said by a couple of posters this is not a stab at Queensland, this was just a controversial game that hasn't been mentioned since. Pete mentioned the 2012 semi final a while ago and thought this one deserved a mention as well.

Just putting that out there before anyone gets angry

I believe Thurston also missed a pretty easy penalty goal.. Well, easy for him.

I don't think Cowboys were robbed.. They had more than enough opportunities to end the game and they couldn't. They let the Sharks back into the game and once Sharks got a roll on, Cowboys couldn't stop them.

And Linnett.. That should have been an easy try for him. If he had just dived and kept his feet in the air, it's a try.

I really don't care for the Cowboys and am glad they lost.

With that said, I think it's bullshit to say a team isn't robbed because it happened early. Whether or not you get a dud call in the 8th or 80th minute, if the effect of that decision decides the winner of the game then I'm happy for people to use any term they like.

I mean, if in all the Origin games this year QLD got a 6pt head start, but NSW were told about it before the game starts, does that mean they weren't robbed because they had 80mins to turn it around? I don't think so.

A good instance of that is Origin 3 2006 where in the space of about 10 minutes, the referees basically changed the entire complexion of the game.

With that said, in most cases, teams only have themselves to blame and fans are terrible at accepting that.

Tunza's return game and it's such a shame he couldn't come up with a try. He came close a few times.

The offload to Hoffman and Glenn from Thaiday, great stuff.

He should do that more often because he does have a very good offload which he showed several times that year.

That try from Price in the second half. How often do you see a prop score a try like that? He didn't even jump high for it..

And poor old Clinton. That was an ugly head clash. I thought he actually had a good game. He came up with some strong runs and that hit up which sent Mannering flying was awesome.

I would love to have that back line minus Wallace.

I wish more refs did what Maxwell did in that game.

He warned the Tigers that he wasn't going to tolerate the repeat infringements. He warned them twice. Eventually, he had enough and sin binned Marshall.

Good call.

Didn't he get tackled for his efforts? Some rabid fan jumped the guard rail and went straight after him.

Yeah he did.

If you watch the video at the full time mark, you will see a bunch of people running towards something. They were chasing the guy that came on the field to tackle Maxwell.

People at the game claimed he had actually come on before full time, ended up escaping and came back on after full time. There was an intruder before full time, they had to stop play but they didn't show it.

Ref tackle apology: I'd been drinking and had a brain snap - LHQNews
