NRL Players and family members in hot water

Kind of makes you wonder what really happened in America with that other case.

The two seem quite different. One was he allegedly took advantage of an extremely intoxicated woman who had little means to refuse. The other seems to be someone who was seemingly a willing participant until "withdrawing" consent.

Not sure if I'm the only one thinking it, but does that sound like Hayne went too far? Was looking for maybe for a bit of Nutella and she said no, but he did the ol' "let's just try and see how it goes". That's not to say that it's anything less than a legitimate sexual assault, no is no.

The alleged victim of an aggravated sexual assault involving Jarryd Hayne has claimed she suffered injuries to her genital area and sought medical assistance from a doctor.
Hayne was today granted bail under strict conditions that included the payment of a $20,000 surety, after being charged with the offence and faces a possible 20-year jail sentence.
The 30-year-old handed himself into police yesterday afternoon and was arrested by members of the NSW Sex Crimes Squad in relation to an allegation made against the out-of-contract NRL star by a 26-year-old woman he met online.
The alleged victim has claimed she sought out medical assistance from a doctor and also suffered injuries to a genital area.
Police confirmed Hayne was taken into custody at Ryde Police Station about 4pm yesterday.
The NRL star was questioned for more than nine-and-a-half hours by officers.

PARRAMATTA have fined winger Jarryd Hayne $1000 for biting a young woman on the arm at a nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Hayne, other Eels players and members of the club's cheerleading squad were invited guests at The Roxy in Parramatta on Saturday night, along with Hooters waitresses who were advertising the opening of a restaurant next month.
The woman rang Ray Hadley at radio station 2GB yesterday morning to complain that a player had made unwelcome advances. Identified as "Lisa" [not her real name], she said the player had gone too far.

Haynebal Lecter.

$1000 fine? I have seen bigger fines/punishments for much less things from clubs and the games admin.

It leads to a pattern of behaviour and attempting to negate it was a one off incident defence tactic

I didn’t read the story because I don’t want to but did the Eels fine him despite him not being contracted to the club or did this happen while he was contracted?

In any case, this sounds like he could be in a lot of trouble this time.

BRONCOS prop Joe Ofahengaue has been fined $150 for returning to a Brisbane casino from which he had been banned for cheating.
Ofahengaue was caught cheating last year after casino security reviewed footage of him winning a poker hand and noticed him slip a $100 chip under $15 he already had on the table.

Ofahengaue pleaded guilty in writing to one charge of cheating by fraudulent act or scheme and was fined $400, with no conviction recorded, in April last year.
He was banned from Treasury Casino but was later charged with a new offence, after he returned in September.
Ofahengaue was served with a notice to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday, but sent an email to the court asking to plead guilty in writing, without appearing.
Magistrate Grace Kahlert said Ofahengaue said in his email that he had been banned from Treasury Casino for a year, and went back after 12 months.
Ofahengaue said within about five minutes of being in the casino he was approached by security.

He had been in the LiveWire Bar and was escorted from the premises, the court was told.
Ofahengaue said he had no clue he had to reapply to come back into the casino after the 12 months ban had expired.
Ms Kahlert accepted Ofahengaue’s written plea and his explanation and said he had left the casino as soon as he was asked to do so.
She fined him $150, with no conviction recorded.
When he appeared on the cheating charge the court was told he had been at Treasury Casino about 5.45am when he won a poker hand and slipped “a $100 chip under the $15 chip”.
He said the dealer did not see the sleight of hand, but when security reviewed the footage the ruse was apparent.
Ofahengaue returned the money after being challenged by security and left the area, returning later that day to give security his name and address.

Nikorima tried to resurrect his career by training with Queensland Intrust Super Premiership side Redcliffe earlier this year. He had hoped the Dolphins, the feeder team for the Brisbane Broncos, the side his older brother Kodi plays for, would provide a pathway back to the NRL. However, the club cut ties after seeking the advice of the NRL integrity unit.
Nikorima made a bank deposit of $2000 to Keighran on November 3 last year. Four days later, Keighran signed the statutory declaration. He later told police that he did so knowing it was largely false.
Nikorima deposited a further $2000 into Keighran’s account after it was signed. The incident became a police matter after a Wyong Roos official saw a media report on the matter and reported it to police.
Magistrate Peter Feather told Keighran during the hearing the matter was “more serious than common assault”, but added that he was a “fine young man” unlikely to reoffend.
Nikorima’s matter is scheduled for Wyong Local Court in January. The NRL integrity unit is closely monitoring the case.

Saifiti hospitalised after late night altercation

Newcastle prop Jacob Saifiti’s career is in doubt after a late night altercation has left him with a serious leg injury.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the incident occurred outside Newcastle’s Greenroof Hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning between Saifiti and Central Newcastle footballer Dane Cordner, the brother of NSW and Kangaroos captain Boyd Cordner.
It is understood that the Knights players had been out on Saturday as part of a farewell celebration for Luke Yates, who is due to join the London Broncos in the English Super League for the 2019 season.
A number of Central players were also out on the town to celebrate the engagement of their former teammate Jake Finn.
Saifiti and Cordner butted heads at the Greenroof Hotel and were escorted outside by security for engaging in a push-and-shove. At approximately 1:30am, a punch was thrown outside the hotel which knocked Saifiti out cold
It is understood that Saifiti suffered a fractured lower leg from falling awkwardly after the punch.
The injury will see Saifiti sidelined for at least three months, with the prop facing the prospect of lower leg surgery and the potential of a much longer stint off the ground.
The 22-year-old managed just eight games in 2018 after a spate of shoulder surgeries, and his latest injury leaves his future uncertain.
It is understood that the police have been made aware of the incident and are investigating.
